Calvary Cemetery Visitation: To celebrate Justin's life friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Behr's Funeral Home Wake service: There will be a parish wake service said at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Behr's. Date/Place of Birth: Justin was born on August 11, 1992, in Dubuque, IA, son of Paul and Martha (Richmon) Schmidt. Brief Personal Information: Justin was a senior at Hempstead High School. He was very athletic, participating in many sports, but football was his passion. Justin was an avid hunter and proud founding member of "Schmavis Outdoors". He hunted deer and pheasants and looked forward to hunting trips, camping and boating with his family. He loved all animals, especially his dog Koda. He was a jokester and put a smile on everyone's face. Justin loved his family, adored his parents and was proud to be described as a "momma's boy". Justin loved cooking and baking and enjoyed making meals for his family and friends. He liked riding his dirt bike and four-wheelers. He loved playing with his nieces, Lillian and Breelyn and making them laugh. He was a dreamer and storyteller. He was always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed and loved to work and be around people. There was not a bad bone in his body. Survivors: His parents: Paul and Martha Schmidt, Epworth, IA 1 sister: Christine (Lyle) Avis, Fort Knox, KY 1 brother: Pauly (Melissa Baker) Schmidt, Epworth, IA 2 nieces: Lillian and Breelyn Avis, Fort Knox, KY paternal grandparents: Melvin and Ora Schmidt, Dubuque, IA godparents: Lora and Todd Perkins, Peosta, IA several aunts, uncles and cousins Preceded in death: his maternal grandparents, Simon and Clara Richmon, Aunt Rosie, an uncle, Mike Schmidt, 2 cousins, Kylie and Vickie and his dog Pepsi. Memorials: A Justin S. Schmidt Memorial fund has been established. Thank you: The family would like to thank all of Justin's family, friends and teammates for their tremendous outpouring of love and support.
