Karan Brady Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 19 to Mar. 21, 2024.
West Hollywood - Karan Therese Brady, of West Hollywood, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 13. She was 59 years old. In her typical fashion she made a true Irish exit, leaving the party on her terms.

Karan was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 8, 1964 to Victoria (Solomon) and Harold Brady. She graduated from Lansing Catholic Central High School in 1982, and St. Mary's College, Notre Dame in 1986. After a stint underwriting insurance with Chubb, she joined her sisters Kathe and Suzy to form Clements Brady and Associates, a sports marketing firm specializing in sponsorships and fund raising. There the sisters put together a calendar of the Super Bowl winning Chicago Bears called Bear But Not Naked, that became the top-selling calendar in the nation that year. They were at the cutting edge of a fledgling industry, especially as three women in a male dominated field.

After many successful years in the marketing business, the Great Recession turned things upside down, and Karan landed on her feet at the flagship Ralph Lauren store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. She took a position in the Home Department, and found her true calling as an Interior Designer. Her creativity, style, and magnetic personality made her a sought-after designer for the likes of Rod Stewart, Glenn Frey, Goldie Hawn, Sharon Stone, Devon Booker, Adam Levine and many other celebs. After a couple of glasses of wine and a taste of Karan's brand of humor, clients were hooked. She soon became the top seller in the company, a title she held for several years. After 10 years as Senior Designer with Ralph Lauren, Karan went out on her own to continue her amazing work as Karan Brady Interiors in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest and Luxe Magazine, among others.

Karan's life is hard to encapsulate in an obituary. She truly needs a good portion of the sports section, all of the style section, and most of the comics. She was an incredible skier, tennis player and golfer, and an avid reader of trashy novels. There was never a better, more willing companion for cocktail hour. She was hysterically funny, with an irreverent wit that came from her slightly askew way of looking at the world; she was generous beyond compare, and loving beyond all boundaries. There wasn't a person on earth she couldn't talk to, and they all wanted to be her friend.

Karan was the best sister, the best friend you ever had, the best aunt, cousin, niece, daughter, and dog mom to Grace Kelly (deceased) and Henry. She was beloved by all, and will be missed, every day, forever.

Karan leaves behind her adored sisters Kathe (Tom) Clements, Suzy (Todd Reschke) Brady, niece Stevie Clements (Olive), nephew Tommy (Waldo Fernandez) Clements, cousins in Lansing, Florida and Los Angeles, and too many great friends to count. Services will be held in Los Angeles, with an appropriate bash to follow.

So many memories of my college roomie Karan have come to mind over the past few weeks. I wish we could talk and laugh about them together and wish we had been able to catch up more with each other the past few years. Thinking of Kathe & Suzy, and your families as I can only imagine how hard this must be. Love you Brady and grateful for all the good times! Planting a tree for you while I hold those memories in my mind and heart! Colleen Muldoon Hanson aka Colldoon

How do you begin to describe the magic of someone as special as Karan Brady? When I think about Karan I find myself thinking of the question raised in the Sound of Music..." How do you hold a Moon Beam in your Hands ?" I haven't seen Karan in a long time but the incredible life chapter I was so fortunate to share with Kathe, Karan and my dear friend Suzy in our years in Chicago was just spectacular fun in every way !! Karan was a true force of fun...she was the " captain of the make it happen team"...!! She was one to laugh loud with you...sip long with you...hug hard on you and be there for you...she could call you out and suggest an outfit change...not to insult you...but to make sure you were the best version of yourself...she had style and sass...smarts and grace...humor and heart ...she has two beautiful sisters that honestly have been connected as one since the three of them can remember...the perfect triangle of trust...she was just so fun and honestly made this world a better and more beautiful place...and now Heaven is even more beautiful...I am sending huge hugs to Kathe and Suzy...and I am just so sorry for your heartbreak ...love you all...XOXO
