Karen Craig Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2021.
Karen L. Craig, 58, of Philadelphia died at her home on July 24, 2021. She was born July 27, 1962 to the late Edward C. Craig and the late Margaret L. Craig (nee Henry). Karen is the beloved sister of Douglas Craig and his wife Dolores and Donna V. Hicks and her husband Glen; Godmother of Kelly Hicks and Joesette Hacker; beloved human companion of Nieco; she is also survived by a loving extended family and friends. Karen was raised and educated in Philadelphia. As a lifelong animal lover, Karen never met a puppy (no matter the age of the dog) she didn't have time to stop and adore. She was an employee of the Government Services Administration for more than 35 years. In her free time, Karen not only travelled extensively but took a great deal of interest in immersing herself in the local cultures including museums and aquariums. Along the way, she became an avid SCUBA diver, a pursuit and passion that she shared with her sister Donna and brother Douglas. Karen was a member of the Neshaminy Chapter #374 Order of the Eastern Star for more than 25 years. Relatives and friends are invited to Karen's Life Celebration from 9:00 A.M. and Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19154. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes that charitable donations will be made in her name to the Philadelphia SPCA via their website at https://www.pspca.org/tribute-memorial-gifts.

My sincere condolences to the Craig family as they mourn the tragic loss of Karen. Karen smile and laugh are etched in my memory. We worked together at GSA in the early days of my career and I always enjoyed seeing her when our paths crossed. Wishing you peace as you grieve her much too early loss and honor her memory. Rest In Peace dear Karen.

Although we were not able to get together often, particularly with COVID, we considered Karen a great friend, even family. We enjoyed diving with Karen many years ago and looked forward to any time we could spend with her. I loved her Facebook posts, they helped me to feel closer to her. She will be missed, especially on Christmas Eve.

"Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight..Must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light." Karen's light will shine forever in your hearts. My prayers are with all those who loved and cared for her. Her bright smile and quick wit will be painfully missed.

Dear Craig Family, I met Karen years ago at one of her co workers birthday party later to find out she lived across from my sister .I would be sitting out with my sisters neighbors when Karen would walk by with nieco and mimi. Karen always stopped and we would pet the dogs and have some laughs. I went over a couple times and cut out this huge weed that grew in the back corner of the yard. My sister told me that she passed suddenly. I know God will be good to her her dedication taking things to the nursing home to your mom. She was a very caring person and loved her dogs.I will miss our laughs on her way back home with the dogs. It is just so hard to grasp to not see her walking little nieco .Take good care of her little boy. He is going to feel very lost. May the angels welcome her to paradise. I will keep all of you in my prayers. I will pray to Karen to comfort all of you. Her soul went right to heaven so she does not need prayers but we should all pray to her because she will be there to continue to help us all who she left so quickly.

My heart is deeply sadden. Sending condolences to the Craig family. Karen will truly be missed by her GSA family. I feel blessed to know her. A simple phone with Karen's "Philly accent" on the end always turned into a long conversation ending with laughs. The Craig family is in my prayers.

To Donna, Douglas, and family: you have our sincere condolences on the loss of Karen. I have known and worked with her at GSA since 1987. She was an exemplary coworker and a caring friend. She will be solely missed. May God bless and comfort you during the days, months, and years to come. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Ps. 30:5). Sorrowfully, Charles
