It is with profound sadness, that we announce the passing of Karen Wingate Creal, a formidable force who resided in Huntsville, AL. Karen departed this world on October 3rd, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving an indelible mark forged by her powerful personality, unwavering perseverance, boundless love, and a trove of cherished memories.

Born and raised in North Florida, Karen was a true pillar of strength, evident in every facet of her life. Twenty years ago, she faced her first diagnosis of breast cancer, a battle she fought with unyielding valor and an indomitable spirit until the very end. Even while navigating her own formidable health challenges, Karen poured her energy into supporting her beloved family and tirelessly championing the veteran community. Her dedication to others in the face of her own struggles was a testament to her extraordinary grit.

Karen was renowned for her sharp wit and warm humor, a magnetic combination that drew people in and made everyone feel instantly welcome and valued. Beneath her tough exterior beat the heart of a devoted Anglophile with a surprisingly soft spot for British culture. She could often be found engrossed in her favorite British TV shows and period dramas, a delightful glimpse into her multifaceted character.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Cooper Milks and Raymond J. Wingate; her beloved husband, William "Bill" Creal; her eldest daughter, Lindy; and her younger brother, Ray Jr. She is survived by her loving family, including her son David; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, and Conner; great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa and Donna; brothers, Jack and Paul; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will profoundly feel her absence.

Though no service will be held, we encourage all who knew her to remember and celebrate Karen's vibrant life and her tenacious spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Karen's name to local animal rescues and charities supporting veterans-causes that were deeply important to her.

Karen Wingate Creal's presence was a profound blessing, and her powerful legacy of perseverance will live on. As we bid farewell, we take solace in knowing that her strength and fierce love will forever resonate in our hearts.
