Karen Lillian Deel-Swenor, age 81, of Marengo and formerly of Chatham, MI, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Heritage Lake Side Senior Center in Rice Lake, WI. She was born March 23, 1941 in Munising, MI, the daughter of Hugo and Alma (Hendrickson) Hallstrom. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her first husband, Clarence Deel; six children, Darryl (Rose) Deel, Jonathon (Rosalie) Deel, Wayne (Juliene) Deel, Gary (Jennifer) Deel, Matthew (Arlene) Deel and Kristen DeMaronese (Philip); 21 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marie Hendrickson, Ruth Homola, Elizabeth Watson, Linda Granger, Charles Hallstrom and Ed Hallstrom; and many relatives and host of Christian friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Aune Hallstrom; husband, Merlin Swenor; infant granddaughter, Staci; siblings, Fremont Hallstrom, Nina Raisanen, Edith Granger, John Hallstrom, Alice Blomquist and Greta Huegel.
A funeral service held by Jeff Jolma and Ronald Jouppe will begin 11:00 am, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Marengo. Visitation will be held Friday evening at the church from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Interment will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham, MI on Monday, May 9th at 3:30 pm.
Roberts Funeral Home of Ashland is assisting the family with arrangements.
