Karen Eldred Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 30 to Jul. 1, 2007.
MOREAU -- Karen Ann (White) Eldred, 50, of 1449 Saratoga Road, a pedestrian involved in a hit-and-run on Sunday, June 17, 2007, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Albany Medical Center from injuries sustained from the accident. Her loving family was by her side.

Born Sept. 25, 1956, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late David W. and Alice Hamelin White.

After graduating from Glens Falls High, Karen attended Adirondack Community College for a while, before working in food service at various locations, such as Barber's Market, Price Chopper, and with the Glens Falls school system.

On July 22, 2000, Karen was united in marriage to Floyd J. Eldred Jr. at Crandall Park by the Hon. Judge William Bacas, spending their honeymoon trip touring and camping throughout the Indian Lake area.

Karen and her husband continued to build precious memories enjoying the Adirondacks together, camping, swimming, and canoeing. Her favorite past-time was playing pool, and cooking - sharing her recipes with family and friends. Animals of all kinds, especially cats, held a fondness in Karen's heart. Above all, she was a fun-loving, caring person, who could make friends wherever she went. Karen will be forever loved and missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Besides her parents, one brother-in-law, William A. Brownell, who passed away May 18, 1998, predeceased Karen.

Survivors include her loving husband, Floyd Eldred Jr. of Moreau; one sister, Mary White Brownell of Fishkill; two brothers, David W. White and his wife, Linda, of Glens Falls, and James M. White and his wife, Nancy, of Queensbury; her mother-in-law, Joyce Smith and her husband, Robert, of Queensbury; two sisters-in-law, Carol Daab and her husband, Ralph, of Queensbury, and Catherine Sweet of Hudson Falls; two brothers-in-law, Frederick Eldred and his wife, Lil, of Glens Falls, and Michael Eldred and his companion, Lisa Kane, of Schuylerville; two aunts, Jane Knapp of Glens Falls, and Mary Hamelin of Saratoga; nieces and nephews, Emily, Allison, and William Brownell, Jennifer, Cullen, David and Katie White, Adam, Andrew, Aaron and Alexander Daab, Angelique (Daab) Bartholomew, Andrea Sweet, Nicole, Joseph, Samantha, Marcus and Joshua Eldred, and Kyle and Averialle Stewart; and several cousins, and many friends.

Friends may call upon the family Sunday, July 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor of Our Lady of The Annunciation Church of Queensbury, and the Rev. Loren Gage, pastor of Kingsbury Wesleyan Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury.

Donations, in Karen's loving memory, may be made to Purrs and Paws, 3857 Route 9L, Lake George, NY 12845, or to Glens Falls Hospital Guild, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Karen's family would like to express their deep felt gratitude to the South Glens Falls police, New York State police, the Moreau Rescue Squad, Air Ambulance, and to Albany Medical Center ER and ICU, for their timely response, professional care and compassion given to Karen, and to the Fisher House, a beautiful home for veterans, where Karen's husband was able to stay allowing him to be closer to Karen in her final days.

Condolences may be e-mailed to www.bakerfuneralhome.com, or mailed to Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

Floyd,
I don't know what to say?! It's been 1 month since Karen was taken from us. I've seen the struggle that it has caused for you. I know that she would want you to go on and be strong and keep your life straightened out. Keep your chin up! Keep the memories but let the pain slowly lighten. I'll always be there for you (anything you need or just to vent or talk to). Remember, I love you always.

Footprints on the Heart

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us
to new understanding
with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make
the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile,
leave footprints on our hearts
And we are never, ever the same.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Karen's passing. We attended high school and ACC together. The last time I saw her was at our 20th class reunion, and it was great catching up with her. I have many fond memories of Karen, we shared many good times. I know she will be missed. My sympathy goes out to the whole family.
