Karen Holton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 16 to Mar. 19, 2023.
Karen passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023 with her daughters by her side. She was born in Chelan, Washington in 1950, the only daughter of 4 children to Doris and Calvin Moon. She was raised in Malaga until her high school graduation and then moved to Spokane, Washington where she met her husband of 51 years, Dale, and raised their two daughters, Andrea and Tara. Karen was a loving and devoted mother to her girls and eventually gave the same love and devotion to her son-in-laws, Lance and Chris. Once grandchildren came along she was the first to be available to help at any moment. Logan, Hannah, Damen and Grayson were her most precious jewels.

Karen's childhood included getting into shenanigans with her brothers, riding her horse Birdie, swinging her baton as a majorette and was a princess in the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Parade. As a young adult, she found an interest in the medical community and worked at Holy Family Hospital for many years where she met lifelong friends otherwise known as "the med wrecks". Karen and Dale spent their early years together singing and playing in their 3-man band around Priest Lake which is also where the family spent a lot of time camping, boating, fishing, water skiing, and snowmobiling. Karen loved to play her piano and sing and she was damn good at it. She loved to entertain and bring her friends and family together. Following her retirement, she and Dale spent a lot of time traveling around the US, she fished often with her brother Lonnie, and had a green thumb maintaining an amazing yard and garden full of plants, flowers and vegetables, and even returned to horseback riding.

Rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed at age 12 was a lifelong battle for Karen. She was tough and fought it as hard as she could. She had many difficult days with minimal complaints. She may have been hurting on the inside but on the outside she put on a gorgeous outfit and a beautiful smile.

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend. . . . . you meant so much to so many, brought so much love and laughter, and not one day will go by without you on our minds and in our hearts. You are truly missed and deeply loved.

Service will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 am at St Mary Catholic Church, 602 E 6th St., Deer Park, Washington.

Aunt Karen will be greatly missed!! Loved her spunk and sass and always ready to include everyone in some fun. When you saw Karen it was evident her physical pain was great but you would never know the obvious from her. She is, was and will always be a great example of endurance and perseverance. I´m glad she hurts no more and she is at peace. Love and prayers to her family and many friends. She left an impression on many.... May there be comfort in that

We had so many good times down south with Karen. We have such fun memories. We visited her in WA and she met us here when she was on her way to the Coast.

Dale, Andrea and Tara I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Karen. She was a great neighbor mom, always including us. I cherish the memories and remember some of the good lunches she made for us, pool time and the Sunday trips to the Eagles to swim. I remember we always got a frosty on the way home as we sat in the back of the truck like you could in those days. She helped brighten our childhood and helped my dad out a lot. She was a great person!

So very saddened by the loss of Karen for you Tara. You mom was spunky and a joy to be around. I feel blessed that she took me and my kids on through you and treated us like family. I am so thankful to have had her routing on my kids along side Hannah and Grayson! She is forever missed.

I´m so sorry Andrea and Tara for the loss of your mother. Didn´t know her, but you girls are special women and I suspect it was largely because of her! Hold each other close, you´ll be each others strength! Love you both!

Loved Karen. She was so good to us when we were kids living next door. My dad was a single dad raising me and my sisters, and was forever grateful to her and Dale for all of their help. I will always remember hearing her sing and play the piano in the basement at Howard Ct and welcoming us to swim in their pool all summer. You added so much fun and many memories growing up. Sending love and prayers to the family

Karen and I first met when she was 6 and I was 7. Moving to Malaga with our families at the same time. Our paths crossed off and on over the years. She was robust in all she did. May she rest in piece. My love to each of you. Donna Nelson Luebber.
