Karen Huff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
Our beloved Karen Ann Huff went home to our Lord and Savior on August 20, 2025. She was 70 years old. After a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, she spent her final days at home in Falmouth, Michigan, surrounded by family and loved ones. Karen was born in West Branch, Michigan, on August 24, 1954, to Carl and Azalia (Jenkins) Huff. After her father's passing, she was lovingly raised by her uncle, Albert Huff. After graduating from Houghton Lake High School in 1972, she went on to work as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and held multiple positions within Backus Township for nearly 40 years. Karen was a devoted mother to her three daughters Christiane Rathke (Chad Dollins) of Harrison, Michigan; Mariane Rathke (Terry Frank) of Kingsley, Michigan; and Katiane (Paul) Myers of Falmouth, Michigan. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Leane Byard (Aaron Kinsella) of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan; Lance Kauffman of Houghton Lake, Michigan; and Levi and Lyndon Myers of Falmouth, Michigan. She also treasured her relationships with her cousin and close friend Louise (Dan) Nagy of Maple Valley, Michigan, as well as lifelong friends Denise Lawrence of Houghton Lake, Michigan; Eldona Doll of Maple Valley, Michigan; and Virginia Wierzbicki of Maple Valley, Michigan. In her leisure time, Karen found joy in painting ceramics and crocheting-creative outlets that brought beauty into the lives of those around her. Her hands were rarely still, always crafting something meaningful with care and love. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved mother, father, and uncle, and is survived by all of her children and grandchildren. Karen will always be remembered for her strength, perseverance, and the love and support she so freely gave her children and grandchildren. We couldn't have asked for a better mother, Meme, and friend, and we will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are scheduled at this time. She will be buried at the Higgins Township Cemetery alongside her parents. Arrangements were handled by family and the Burkholder Family Funeral Home.
