Karen McClendon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 25, 2014.
Karen Louise Mason McClendon SHARPSBURG, MD.-Karen Louise Mason McClendon, 71, of Sharpsburg, Md., died quietly at her home on May 21, 2014. Karen was the daughter of Robert Louis and Margaret Claire Jesse Mason of Lubbock, Texas, and loving wife of Brummett Jerald McClendon (deceased). She is survived by her son, Brent and his wife Barbara; and her granddaughter, Erin of Fairfax, Va.; and her sister, Janet Halbert of Snyder, Texas. Karen's first sentence was No, I can and that came to epitomize her life. She excelled at Tom S. Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University, and was a long-term and very active member of First Christian Church of Lubbock, until marrying and moving away in the mid-1960's. No matter what stood in her way she made sure her life was filled with adventure while living in California, Maryland and South Dakota, and traveling and exploring the world. Her most memorable experiences occurred on trips to Russia, Greece, Italy and Ireland, and her love of music took her to some of the most (and least) known musical venues in the U.S. and Europe. Services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in celebration of Karen's life.
