I joined in a mah jong group one day at Lil Ticen´s house where Karen played and enjoyed an entertaining afternoon with the "gracious ladies " laughing, swearing and generally having a blast with these "wild and crazy " grandmas! I can hear you laughing still Karen....what fun !

Karen always made me laugh and smile. Her own laughter was contagious. We always got together at Christmas time with our mutual friend, Joan Caputi, and the extended family. One Christmas, when I didn't have much money, I gave each person in the Raneri/Caputi/Slusser families one of those silly scalp tinglers. Karen delighted in this and wore hers all night - laughing until she was in hysterics. I loved her for that, and many other moments we had shared. She never questioned who she was and opened her home to everyone. One doesn't realize how much we mean to each other until it's too late. I will miss her dearly. Sending my love to Jane, Ryan, Joan and everyone who loved her.
