Dr. Karen M. Spriggs Snaufer

September 20, 1939 - December 7, 2024

Dr. Karen M. Spriggs Snaufer made a peaceful transition with her loving daughters by her side on December 7th, 2024 at age 85 in Grapevine, Texas.

Born September 20th, 1939 to Betty Stewart Spriggs and Elmo Spriggs in Springfield, Ohio. Karen grew up in Enon, Ohio with younger sisters Dail and Tanis in a loving home of strong faith where education, the arts and kindness to others were highly valued. She graduated valedictorian from Greenon High School ('57) and pursued her interest in psychology by earning her Bachelor's degree at Wittenberg University ('60) and Master's degree at Ohio University ('62). She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Psi Chi honorary. She later earned a Ph.D from St John's University.

In 1962, she married the love of her life, Larry Snaufer, and the couple moved to California for Larry's service in the Air Force. She worked as a social worker until becoming a mother to her first-born, Mark. The young family settled in Beaumont, Texas where daughters Kimberly and Kendra were born. While raising a family, she was active within the community, at First United Methodist Church in Beaumont, PTA, numerous charities and Unity Church of Christianity in Houston. In 1983, the family moved to Kingwood, Texas. There Karen taught classes at Kingwood College and owned a thriving private practice as a Psychologist/Psychotherapist for 30+ years. Her dedication to helping others, her kindness, compassion and guidance touched countless lives. She was loving, elegant, witty, fun and full of grace and strength. A devoted wife and mother, her family was her pride and joy and she created a beautiful home filled with unconditional love and support.

Karen is now reunited with Larry, son Mark, her parents and sister Tanis. She is survived by daughters Kimberly Snaufer of Flower Mound, TX and Kendra Snaufer of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law Molly Snaufer and grandson Eric Snaufer of Sandy, Utah; sister Dail Myers (Bob) of Hot Springs, AR.; nephew Todd Myers (Sheryl) of Hot Springs, AR.; nephew Kevin Myers (Paula) of Waxahachie, TX.; niece Julie Hoyt (Hal) of Lake Kiowa, TX.; nephew Dr. Mike Sheridan (Bonnie) of Orlando, FL. and cherished friends.
