Karen Sullivan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 1, 2025.
Karen Sue Sullivan (née Lee), age 78, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in Largo, Florida, following a brief illness.

Born on September 18, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio, Karen was the daughter of loving parents James B. and Agnes (Erisman) Lee. She grew up surrounded by a close knit family and carried those deep-rooted values of love and connection throughout her life. She spent much of her life in Springfield before retiring to Florida. Karen dedicated her professional years to serving others through her work at Clark County Jobs and Family Services, where she made a meaningful impact on the lives of co-workers and her community.

Karen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a love for golf and country music, often spending time working on puzzles or enjoying the open road on a motorcycle or riding in a Corvette. The beach and her swimming pool were among her favorite places-sanctuaries where she could relax and recharge. But above all else, Karen cherished time spent with those she loved.

Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by family and friends. She is remembered by her children: Bryan (Theresa) Sullivan of Springfield; Sheryl (Randy) Wykle of Springfield; and Lori (Joey) Fordham of Largo. Her legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought light to her life.

Karen also held close bonds with her siblings: sister Barbara Brinsley; brothers Terry (Maggie) Lee, Don (Diana) Lee, and David (Kim) Lee. She was part of a large extended family that included many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her warmth and spirited nature.

A special place in Karen's heart was reserved for her beloved soulmate of 21 years, Ron Sutherland. Their bond was one of deep companionship, enduring love and unwavering support. She also embraced Ron's children-her "bonus" children-Michael Sutherland and Jennifer Sutherland as part of her own family. Jennifer's son Gavin brought additional joy into Karen's life.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother-in-law Bill Brinsley.

In accordance with Karen's wishes, no formal services were held. Her memory will live on through the stories shared by those who knew and loved her.

May her memory bring comfort and peace to all those who mourn her and those whose lives she touched.
