Karl, I always enjoyed talking with you at the Alpha, sorry I never made it to the shop, but I will carry your wisdom and experiences onward. Much love.

Lisa,

I am so sorry to hear about Karl.
I remember meeting him one day at his shop, he was a very nice man. It was wonderful that he gave the gift of life to others by being an organ donor.

Your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear M. M.,
I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. The words shared thus far speak volumes of the person Karl was. Take care of yourself and your family too. May God bless him with heaven"s entrance. Peace.

50 years ago we bought our bikes from Joe Becker's bicycle center. I was also one of the boys who hung out there and learned much about bikes and life.
I was so happy when I walked into A&M Cyclery about 15 years ago, and learned we could continue to buy bicycles from the Beckers.
Karl's love for cycling was obvious and infectious. As I see it, what set him apart from his competitors was that he felt one could get top quality without spending crazy amounts of money.
We were truly shocked and saddened to hear of Karl's passing. My wife's Raleigh which we bought from Karl will last forever, as will our memories of Karl.
May his memory be a blessing.

Bought my first serious bike from Karl when my family lived in the Shaw neighborhood. More importantly, he befriended my son, Tyler, and introduced him to the joys of road and mountain biking.
Tyler still talks about trips to Moab, Utah with Karl and friends.
Karl's love of cycling and his friendship made a lasting impression on our family.

Karl was always his own man.
I appreciated his friendship, as that did not always appear in the trade.
Karl was, truly, one of THE best of us in the trade.
To me, he was a realist and not a delusional romantic about the sport or trade.
He was also a friend, and that is pretty damn good!
