The Mattes business has been one of caring, compassion and quality of work. You will be missed greatly, but your legacy will be carried forward by your family. Rest in peace.

I have known Karl my whole life. As a child, we attended the same church. My parents thought very highly of him and he was very active at the church. He was also good friends with my uncle, Ralph Dillman; they grew up together and kept in touch for 8 decades. Many years later, Karl & I met up again at our church in Pleasant Ridge. He loved St. Peter's and would do yard work to help beautify the grounds there. I knew his reputation to be honest and fair so hired his company for chimney cleaning, tuckpointing and installing a new roof & gutters at my house. I recommended his company many times, knowing they would be as pleased as I was with his work. Karl was one of the kindest and sincerest people I ever have ever met - they don't make 'em like him anymore! He will be missed and I'll always remember his smile!

Sorry to hear about Karl's passing. I worked for him in the early 80s. He was a such hard worker, and a firm but fair boss.

We were so very sorry to hear about Uncle Karl's passing. He was my dad's big brother and was often at our kitchen table for a visit at the end of the day while I was growing up. I have many memories of Christmases and Easters with the Mattes family. Uncle Karl always loved and cared for his little brother, my dad, especially when he was dying of cancer almost 7 years ago. I know Uncle Karl will be missed by so many who loved him. Sending our deepest sympathy to my cousins, Carl and Cindy, and to our extended Mattes family.

It was my honor to be able to help take care of Karl he will be missed very much . He was kind gently and his smile lighted up the room . Karl's favorite saying was " I'm A Chimney Man " My thoughts and prayers go out to the family .
