In memory of
Francis Miller
December 28, 2007
I met Karl Ohs through his brother Jerry. He was the rare individual whose talents ranged from rancher to statesman. But, even rarer, he was genuine, authentic, straight forward and someone whose word you could count on. Those qualities were instilled in his son Eric who came to Denver and worked with me for a summer. And, they exist in his brother Jerry, so I have to assume they were bred in the bone from father and mother.
I can only echo the condolences of others and suggest that all things happen for a reason. When you lose someone that person's memories are collapsed and left with you for a lifetime. Those who knew Karl Ohs will likely be blessed with a fleeting memory or intense thought every day for the rest of their lives. In that regard, he is still with you.The only people who will miss out are those who never knew him.

I would like to express my sympathy to all of the family on the los of Karl. As the last of the Martin family to have lived on the ranch it is with great kindnes that I remember how Karl allowed me to visit the ranch where I grew up. He always had time to listen to me remembering things that I knew about the place.

Dear Ohs family,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I always remember Karl being very generous and caring when all of us kids would come over the hill from Sheridan to visit and spend time with Karl's children. May time heal your sorrows and just remember all of the special times that you had with Karl.

Karla and I want to pass along our thoughts and prayers to Sherri and the rest of Karl’s family. Karl was one of those rare individuals in the world we live; that we have been able to point to as an example of a statesman, not a politician. He was someone who lived out his faith where God put him, and put what was right ahead of what was convenient. Karl was both an inspiration and example for all who would take note. He was a gentleman to those who where not, and did not waver in his beliefs when under pressure to do so.
We want to thank his family for supporting and encouraging Karl in his work as a public servant. He worked hard to make many peoples’ lives better, and Montana a better place to live.
I am thankful for his commitment to Christ; I am sure we will meet again.

To the Ohs Family,
While a dark cloud has cast its shadow of a dark day with the loss of a true friend and statesman, the beautiful landscape that exists is in part due to the many people that had the opportunity to know and work with Karl. I was blessed to be able to work with Karl in Helena, where Karl was widely respected and a true statesman for this great state.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

We have so many good memories of the Ohs family while ranching near Harrison-Pony, it's hard to pick out just a few. Maybe all the pies Sylvia made when our son, Monty, worked for Karl and Jerry during all of his high school and college years, maybe the fact that Karl made a wonderful role model for our son, those are all precious memories of wonderful neighbors. Our sympathy goes out to the Ohs family.

Dear Family,
I am very sorry to hear about your loss. The best advice I can give is to remember the good times. To this day I still find things that remind me of mom.
As you know I spent many nights under Karl's roof and always like and admired him. He was a great father and the best wrestling coarch a 44lb 5 year old could have. I have many great memories at your house with Karl.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the family of my long time friend Karl,
It seems like such a short time ago that Karl and I met when we received our dorm assignments at MSU. Karl and I spent the better part of four years living and learning together in Bozeman--those were really good times. I also made a few visits to the ranch near Malta and had the privilege to meet and enjoy the company and hospitality of the Ohs family. That was really an experience a city boy can't forget. Karl and I got together at the then new ranch in Harrison just before I had to head to Viet Nam. It was really a disturbing time in my life and was a settling experience to be able to visit with the Ohs family and spend time talking over that moment in time with Karl.
For the next few years Karl was starting his family and my wife Connie and I visted the ranch several times. We still cherish those visits and remember the good times in Montana with Karl and his family. It's regretful at this point that we didn't stay closer during all the years since then. Still Connie and I will always keep the memories of those good times with us.
Connie and I send our deepest sympathies and prayers to all of you.
Dave and Connie Pawlowski
