I met Dick Tews just a few months ago - just for 5 minutes at the Benton Airshow 2017. I just knew there was something else about him, a gentle giant with a lot of History to back him up. My deepest sympathies to the families...

He taught me a little about life, a little about formation flying, and everything I know about Budweiser. A man's man, and a true gentleman.

Very sad the passing of a great man. My condolences to the Tews family. I got to experience aviation the Tews way. He would always share his airplanes with other people, including complete strangers. You might be a person at an airshow or aviation day event and he would grab a stranger and strap them into his T-34 and these people got the ride of a lifetime. A very generous man is an understatement. Thanks for all the fun Mr Tews, and God bless you and your family.

Dick and I discussed University of Nebraska football many times; my fellow Cornhusker will be missed. Condolences to his family.

Dick was a larger-than-life personality in Shasta county. We extend our deepest sympathies to Elaine and the family for their loss. Peggy and I first met Dick around 1982, and were struck by his love for Elaine and how he just beamed when he was around her. His patriotism, wonderful sense of humor, and love for the Redding area will be how we will remember him.

We didn't know Dick for a long time. Only met when we both moved to Reno about the same time. We enjoyed both Dick & Elaine very much & became very good friends quickly. We will miss him very much. Our deepest sympathy to the Tews family.

I had the good fortune to be at Dick and Elaine's wedding as maid-of-honor, then 25 years later to return all expenses paid to celebrate.
When I think of Dick, I think of Integrity.
I remember him saying how he loved black jack gum and found It sad that he couldn't find It anymore. On his 60th birthday, I gave him a carton of black-jack and he acted like I gave him a brick of gold. Dick appreciated the little things. I truly believe Elaine and Dick were soul mates.
He will be missed by all that knew him.

Sincerely, Ruthann Chiara
