Karla Newton Reeves
Karla N. Reeves, 50, passed away early Sunday morning, May 20, 2007. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend. She loved her family. She especially loved her 3rd grade class at Shelley Elementary School and was a great teacher. Karla went back to school and graduated from UVSC in the spring of 2006. She began her first year of teaching in August, 2006. We are grateful that she was almost able to complete her first year. She loved the students and teachers with whom she worked.
Karla was born April 5, 1957 in Brigham City, Utah to Ken and Donna Newton. She attended school in Brigham City, and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1975. She attended school at Utah State University and served a mission for the LDS Church in the Adelaide, Australia Mission. She married Todd S. Reeves in the Logan Temple in July of 1982. They were blessed with three children: Kimball, Tricia, and Jessica.
She served in many positions in the church and was currently serving as a primary teacher. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and wanted her children to always do what was right. She recently had a surprise birthday party for her 50th birthday. She appreciated good friends and enjoyed spending time with her friends and extended family.
Karla is survived by her husband, Todd, her children, Kimball, Tricia, and Jessica, her six sisters: Jane (Lee) Gibson; Jean (Paul) Barleen; Sherrie (Tom) Taylor; Karen (Ben) Smith; Nancy (Norm) Parker; Trudy (Phil) Linville, and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the American Fork 16th Ward Chapel, 507 West 700 North. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N, American Fork and at the church from 9:45-10:45 am on the day of the service. The family wishes to express thanks for all the kindnesses shown to them. We will meet in the Mantua, Utah Cemetery at 2:30 pm for the interment. Online condolences may be sent to andersonmortuary.com

Dear Todd and Family:

We are so sorry to have read about the passing of Karla. She is a wonderful woman, and we grieve with you in this temporary separation. We also know that your faith is strong, and that the power of the ordinances that bind you together, the power of the Holy Ghost to comfort your hearts and the eternal blessings of our Savior's atonement will be a source of great peace and hope for you. Your children have had a wonderful example to emulate. We know that Karla touched the lives of many, and thus there are many who mourn her passing with you. Sister Terry remembers the beautiful fruit pizza that Karla helped Tricia make for the Cinco de Maio celebration at Shelley Elementary School and how excited the other students were to get a taste of such a piece of art. Her love for her children was consistently demonstrated in the many things she helped them do. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. We are presently serving in the Portugal Lisbon Mission, so we were unable to attend the viewing or the funeral. Please accept our condolences from a distance.

With love,
Craig and Candy Terry

Dear Todd and family,
Our hearts go out to you and know that there will be a void in your lives until you are reunited with your wonderful wife and mother once again. We hope that the void will be filled with the wonderful memories of Karla, and that the love and support of family and friends will carry you through your grief. Shauna had the opportunity to interact with Karla at Shelley elementary. She was so organized and always willing to help out in any way. Teacher's are such an important part of a child's life and Karla was the kind of teacher that will make an impression that will not be forgotten. She touched the lives of many. We enjoyed passing you on occasion as we strolled through the neighborhood. Karla had such a kind, gentle nature. She was genuine and made everyone around her feel good. She was a great example as well as a wonderful wife and mother. The Lord must need her for amazing things, because she was that kind of person. She will be missed. As you return to life's routines may you continue to feel the love and support of family and friends. We are all here to help you in any way we can. May the spirit comfort you and sustain you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Paul and Shauna Strong

P.S. Amanda wants Trisha to know that she is thinking of her during this difficult time. You have been raised by honorable parents and you are as wonderful as your mother. Live as she would want you to live. Find joy in her memory.

I feel honored to have been able to work with Karla in her first year of teaching. She was wonderful to work with and very positive. She loved her student, family, and friends. She was always thinking of others and became a great example to me. Although I only knew her for a short time, I feel lucky to have been given that time.

Dear Reeves Family,
We are so sorry for the loss of a wonderful friend and teacher. We can not imagine the loss that you must feel for a wonderful companion and mother.
Mrs. Reeves provided such a safe and loving environment for our two children to learn and express themselves. Both John and Lacy have expressed that they truely felt she cared for them as individuals.
Trisha, I was so impressed and touched by your strength as you came to visit the 3rd grade classes on Monday. I saw much of your mother in you that day. The children and parents who were there appreciated your expressions of love and concern for them.
Jessica, you are a sweet little girl and Lacy is especially mindful of your feelings at this time. We are remembering all of you in our prayers! Heavely Father will pour out his choicest blessing on all of you. We love the Reeves family.
Love,
The Hollidays

To Mrs. Reeves' Family,
I am sorry for your loss. Mrs. Reeves was one of my favorite teachers. She was always nice to us and made the class laugh. I especially liked the "Polar Express" party she gave us at Christmas time. She made the best hot chocolate I've ever had! She did a great job on her first year of teaching and I'm luck to have been in her class. I will always do my best and be a good student to honor her. I will miss her very much.
