Kary James Brown

Kary James Brown, age 38, of Rainier, Oregon, passed away on May 9, 2024, in Rainier, Oregon due to complications of kidney disease.

Kary was born on June 6, 1985 in Dallas, Oregon. Kary was raised in Monmouth where he enjoyed playing baseball and football in his youth. He later moved to Rainier where he graduated from Rainier High School.

As a young adult Kary was impacted by kidney disease. He was a motivated and dedicated worker as a forklift driver and pipe fitter laborer when his health allowed. He was thankful for his healthy years gifted via kidney donation in 2015. Kary had a good sense of humor, a radiant smile, and was known for his intelligence. He was an avid reader, especially of the classics. He loved snowboarding, riding his motorcycle, cooking and gardening. He found joy fishing with Karly and his dogs on the banks of the Columbia River. Overall, his greatest joy in life was his beloved daughter, Karly.

In addition to Karly and her mother Katie Stoddard (Hailee and Logan Stoddard), Kary is survived by his mother Cindy Marion, step-father Jim Marion, sister Trisha Smith (Brandon), brother Ryan Brown (Shobi), step-sisters Sarah Marion and Jamie Marion (Patrick), nephews Elliott Smith, Jeffrey Malcom, nieces Matilda Smith, Kira Brown, and Charlotte Miles, Grandparents Marvin and Darlene Brabham along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Gregory Brown, grandmother Elizabeth Anderson, grandfather Garland Brown and step-grandfather Gerald Anderson.

A celebration of life for Kary will be held at noon on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the "Old Hall" located at 103 West C Street in Rainier, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Kidney Fund.

His warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
