KARYN ELIZABETH JAKOBS

Karyn ELizabeth (Sorrick) Jakobs, age 38, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at her home in Fresno, CA after a long struggle with cancer. Born on October 25, 1977, to Verna L. and William A. Sorrick, Karyn graduated from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. After the arrival of their first son Benjamin, Karyn became a devoted mother, working tirelessly to build a joyful home that welcomed all. Beginning in the fall of 2011, Karyn home schooled each of her five children, taking great care in researching rigorous curriculum that both challenged her brood and opened their minds to the world's possibilities. Her devotion to the growth of her children extended well beyond the classroom, with each child involved in array of activities at their church and in the community. Karyn is survived by her husband Jim; and her five children, Benjamin age 14, Zachery age 12, Eva age ten, Sam age nine, and Olivia age seven. A Memorial Service will be held at the family's church, New Covenant Community Church, on Friday, October 21, 2016.
