Kate Follansbee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2024.
Epping - Kate Angela Follansbee, 49, died after a brief illness on April 25, 2024, in the comfort of her home with family, friends, and her furry pal, Georgia May, by her side.

Kate was born a Libra in Winona, Minnesota to Ann (Richardson) Hannaher and Stephen Newell. She moved to Swampscott, Massachusetts, when she was five and graduated from Swampscott High School in 1992.

Kate was the loving mother of Hannah M., Tynan S., Brynn M., Kian D., and Quintin T., her children with former husband Kevin Connors. Predeceased by her father, she is survived by her mother, Ann, stepfather, Tom, brothers Shawn Newell and Joseph Hannaher, and grandson, Mason, who adored his "Mimi." Kate is survived by her husband of five years, Ron Follansbee.

Kate was employed for twenty years as operations manager at ZVOX, a voice clarifying technology company based in Swampscott. She was known as a very hardworking and passionate boss, and forged a close friendship with Stacy J. during her time at Cambridge SoundWorks.

In Epping, NH, where she lived for the past six years, Kate served in the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 51, most recently being elected Treasurer. She helped organize fundraisers, bake sales, and parties for children and families in the community. It was at the Legion where Kate would say she met her "framily."

Kate loved cooking and frequently said "the way to someone's heart is through their stomach." Her specialties were chicken pot pie and homemade birthday cakes for her children, and she did not shy away from experimenting with flavors. She enjoyed cooking and decorating for every holiday, especially Halloween, which was her favorite. Kate showcased some of her favorite recipes on her Sugahskull Kitchen Instagram page. Decorating Kate's homemade gingerbread cookies at Christmas was always a blast.

Kate loved nature and the outdoors: camping, kayaking, boating and four wheeling. She said the beach was her happy place and she loved dragonflies and hummingbirds.

A celebration of Kate's life is planned for Sunday, May 19th at the American Legion in Epping from 1-5pm.

Kate, you were one of my first friends here. North Shore girls forever. You opened your heart and your home to me and I'm forever grateful for that. I hope you've found peace in the ocean or the sky or somewhere in between. You're in my heart always.

Kate and I shared the love of books . She would read them I would listen. I loved her cooking. She often sent my husband and I home with a mason jar of her soups and stews.
Kate and I spent many of days on the trails 4wheeling, on the beach and at Snapneck Deck. Our Click was tight and loyal. We shared tears, laughs and stories. She will be forever in my heart. I love you kate.
