Kate Myers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2022.
Kate Myers passed away on August 22, at the age of 39.

Kate was a one of the kind human being who had a deep love for mosh pits, all things vintage, and rescue puppies. She was a plant based vegetarian before it was cool but don't confuse her for a hipster: she was the real deal original.

While she made her home in Las Vegas for most of her adult life, she cannot be claimed by one city or state. She had the urge to explore and travel and she made good on it; always making an impression and building community. She leaves many loved ones across the United States.

Kate was a passionate woman: she had a deep sense of justice and desire to make humanity more positive. She worked various jobs across the years but really found purpose in music: She adored live shows and was an avid swing dancer in her free time. From a young age she showed enthusiasm for soccer, both as a player and fan of Die Mannschaft. She was looking forward to becoming a first time Aunt in October and would have spoiled him endlessly.

Her favorite people on this planet were her siblings, and she is grieved by Mark, Amy, Nick, Hannah, Carl, and Gabrielle. To honor her, we promise to keep wearing purple, eat pez, and never go the way of the buffalo. We would like to thank her for the hours of babysitting, her wit, and the pride she took in all of us.

She is survived by her parents, Jim Myers and Sandi Myers of Tampa Bay, FL and Robert and Beth Rosenwald of Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kate was predeceased by her grandparents, Carl and Sue Haner; Ray and Laverne Rosenwald, and grandfather James Myers and her uncles, Kirk Haner, Frederic Rosenwald, and Vincent Myers.

The family has held a private memorial. We encourage everyone who loved Kate to find a personal way to celebrate her life and spirit. If there is a picture or story you would like to share, we encourage you to post so others can remember with you.

Kate had such a big heart and loved to support others. In her last act of kindness she saved the lives of 7 individuals by donating her organs and because of her, two people are able to see. Although her life has ended, her heart beats on serving others.

We pray that Kate has found the peace she desired on earth and kindly request that in lieu of any gifts or flowers, donations be made in her honor to the St. Josephs Indian School (stjo.org). She was a long time donor and she would be really grateful for others to support them.

We loved you K8 and nothing else matters.

Kate was a soul sister sort of friend. We made so many memories, helping each other along living in in Las Vegas. So many laughs, concerts, dress-ups - driving around listening to Punk and Ska music. We would say to each other we were 'god sisters' because we just felt that friends didn't do what we had justice. She created so many beautiful memories with SO MANY PEOPLE. The community she built and left behind are better for knowing her and are forever changed by her. It's true the world is one shade darker without out Kate.

Beautiful tribute to our Kate. She was definitely a " me do it!" Girl. She was a sweetheart, an old soul and would do anything for others. I miss her and would give anything to have her back. -Jim Myers

I'll miss you my friend. K8 and I were friends since 2002 were we met in MD. Since then we've shared journeys and many laughs together. I'll listen to her most recent favorite song she sent me in her honor. Scott H. Biram - Slow & Easy

I worked with Kate many years ago at CityCenter. She always had a bright welcome smile and the most beautiful soul. Beside her outside beauty, she had a glow from within. She was one of those one of a kind unique people who make the world brighter everywhere they go. I loved keeping up with her on Facebook and seeing her adventures throughout the years. The world is missing a bright light and my heart aches for her family.

I worked with Kate in Vegas for a year or two. We got along great. We had music and soccer in common. She was such a fun person. She enjoyed life but it seemed like she was pressed to move on. She followed her passions. She loved her dogs. She then traveled with them and we lost touch. I wondered how she was doing many times over the last few years since I saw her. She had passion for life and I envied that in her. Everyone that knew her liked her. I hope her family knows really how much a true free spirit she was. I´m heartbroken. As I imagine so many are too right now.

Kate was always so much fun to be around. My favorite memory is the pajama brunch we went to at The Palms

I am so shocked and sad to hear about losing our Kate. I´ve not talked to her for a number of years but always enjoyed her. She was my sons best friend for a lot of years when they both lived in the KC area.

I will forever miss her calling me Mumsie :(

It is heartbreaking to hear this news. I was thinking if her today, just an hour before I read this sad news. K8's kind and cavalier soul always impressed me. I will also wear purple in her memory. She had a fearless and graceful approach to life.
