Kathaleen Lackey Gantt

Kathaleen Lackey Gantt, 96, of 8696 Reeps Grove Church Road, died Saturday, June, 16, 2018 at Carolina Care, Cherryville. She was born on January 16, 1922 in Cleveland County to the late Thomas Guy and Jennie Moss Lackey. Kathaleen was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She was an excellent home healthcare giver, raised five sons, was involved in the community, cared for her parents and in laws, and was a hairdresser. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Gamel Thomas "GT" Gantt; sons, Ronnie Gantt, Casey Gantt, Jerry Gantt; brother, TG Lackey Jr.; sisters, Shirley Price and Wilma Wilcox and a granddaughter, Brooke Gantt. Survivors include her sons, Steve Gantt and wife, Janet of Cherryville and Eddie Gantt of Vale; grandchildren, Geety Gantt and wife, Malinda, Rena Reep and husband, Daren and Shayne Gantt; great-grandchildren, Grace Gantt, Bailey Reep, and Colten Gantt; daughter-in-law, Beverly Barts Gantt and sister-in-law, Lilly Poston Lackey. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey. Burial will be at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund, 1156 North Brook #3 School Road, Vale, NC 28168.
