Katherine FARADAY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 16 to May 21, 2012.
Born in Greenbrae, CA March 5, 1967, Katherine Ann Faraday, "Kathy," died unexpectedly in her Sonoma, CA home May 5, 2012. Only daughter of David M. Faraday (deceased) and Patti D. Faraday-McCabe of San Anselmo, Kathy grew up in Ross and attended Ross School from kindergarten through eighth grade, graduating in 1981. She then attended high school at Marin Academy in San Rafael and graduated in 1985. In her youth, Kathy was an outstanding gymnast, equestrian and soccer player. As an equestrian she won dozens of ribbons at bay area hunter jumper horse shows with her 19-hand horse, "Ben." As a young soccer player, Kathy was the model for the protagonist in the young adult fiction book written by her step-grandfather and published by Dodd, Mead in 1983 titled "Scrappy"-about a young girl who plays on a boy's soccer team. Kathy turned her on-the-field soccer skills to coaching and became the assistant coach and then the coach of the 1999 and 2000 Marin Academy girl's junior varsity soccer teams. Later, Kathy was head coach of the girl's soccer team at Sonoma Academy. Her team scored the first athletic victory for the school in her first season as coach. Kathy also earned her emergency medical technician certification and worked for ProTransport as an EMT in the North Bay. Kathy was a loving daughter, sister and mother and leaves behind three children: Rebecca, Alexa and Sierra Nadeau, their step-father of 14 years, Curtis Adams and ex-husband Lawrence A. Nadeau of Sonoma. She also leaves her two brothers, Christopher and Jeffrey, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Kathy's soul now lives among the fragrant lupine, the wind in the pines, the warm summer sunshine, the peaceful forests, the nurturing earth, the summer birdsongs, the cool lazy streams and the family laughter and good times at her beloved Huntington Lake- her refuge from her daily life and where-since her youth-she said she felt closest to God. Services will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 14 Lagunitas Road at Shady Lane, Ross, CA. Charitable contributions in Kathy's memory may be made to Sunny Hills Services, 300 Sunny Hills Drive, San Anselmo, CA, 94960.

Kathy will always be in my heart and thoughts. She was a wonderful friend, mother, and equestrian.

I am so sad to hear about Kathy's passing. We lost touch over the past few years but she will forever be a great friend and we had some great times at horseshows with Ben and Molly.

Kathy, I will miss our long talks about life and family. I will miss listening to you read the clever poems you wrote. I will miss spending time with you and the girls. Laughter, finding our daughters painted head to toe, plus the bedroom walls. I will miss you. I pray for your children, for your mom, and for all of your family to have the abundance of love, strength and support during this sad time and for the years to come. Love from Corinne.

Kathy was the best friend a kid could have - fun, exciting, creative, outgoing, loyal. I'll remember us hanging over the "laughing bridge" on Glenwood Ave near Upper Road on the way home from school. Our mutual "immunity" poison oak. Thank you for filling my childhood with days and days of laughter. Good bye Frankie - love from Gilbert.

May God bless your family with peace and comfort your hearts during this time. I still remember her smile and her fierce skills at Marin Academy. I pray for an abundance of peace and grace to carry her children. Love Jessica Jordan
