Katherine "Kathy" Christine Holland, known to her loved ones as Kathy, peacefully passed away at her residence in Dallas, North Carolina on November 22, 2023. She was surrounded by her family during her final moments. Kathy was born on February 3, 1951, in Gaston County, North Carolina.
Kathy's life was marked by dedication and commitment. She devoted 43 years of her career to American Efird, where she retired with a sense of accomplishment and pride. Her hard work and loyalty were evident throughout her time at the company.
Education played an important role in Kathy's life, and she proudly graduated from Hunter Huss High School. She carried the values instilled in her during her educational journey throughout her entire life.
Family was of the utmost importance to Kathy. She cherished her role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her proudest accomplishments revolved around spending quality time with her family members. It was during these moments that Kathy's heart felt happiest and most fulfilled.
Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, James Haskell "Jim" Holland; children Michelle "Missy" Parker and Jason Browning (Cortney); stepsons Jimmy Holland (Kim) and John Holland (Angee); grandchildren Harris Holland, Bree Shain (Ian), Scott Parker (Brooke), Noah Helms, Hunter Holland (Courtney), Tyler Holland, Gray Holland, Logan Bingham, Caden Browning, Harper Bingham, Colton Browning; great-grandchildren Raylan Parker, Boone Shain, and Beau Shain (to be born on 12/5); brothers Mickey Grindstaff (Mary Ann) and Ronnie Grindstaff (Pam); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; aunt Mary Ann Goodwin; best friend/family Trudy Pope; and caregiver/friend Lynsey Gibson.
Aside from her professional accomplishments and close-knit relationships, Kathy's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a member of City Church but attended Westview Baptist Church, where she found solace, guidance, and community.
A visitation to honor Kathy's memory will take place from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation located at 2916 Union Road in Gastonia, North Carolina. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at the same location at 12:00 Noon with Reverend Don Mason, Reverend Scott Rudisill and Pastor Dickie Spargo officiating. The interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Fountain section 1200 S New Hope Rd in Gastonia, North Carolina. Pallbearers will be Tyler Holland, Jimmy Holland, Josh Grindstaff, Mark Goodwin, Tommy Millwood, Jimmy Stamey, Martin Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Holland and Caden Browning
Kathy's warm personality and loving nature touched the lives of those who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering support for her loved ones. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In this time of profound loss, let us come together to celebrate Kathy's life and find solace in the cherished memories she leaves behind. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
