Kathy was my sister and my friend. We were charter members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at the University of Tennessee . She had such a gentle spirit and a quiet serenity that always soothed my soul. She lived her life her way. Smart and caring, she added a stability to all situations she encountered. Kathy was truly an amazing person - beautiful on the inside and out. She was soft-spoken and always made me feel special. I'm still missing her.

Dr. Treherne was an exceptional doctor and a wonderful person. She epitomized the word "class". There was an aura about her which exuded competence and compassion. She was a wonderful teacher who expected much from her staff and they were better because of her.
I am alive today because on two occasions, she identified malignant melanoma in its very early stages and it was eliminated. I had complete confidence in her. She was a gem.
May God welcome her into His kingdom and may her family realize her pain is over and she is eternally happy.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I first met Dr. Treherne when I joined the medical staff at Norfolk Community Hospital in 1993. Although I didn't get to know her well, I always heard wonderful things about her and sometimes referred patients to her. My sister's daughter was a patient and it was my sister who called to give me the news of her passing. I was shocked and saddened. Not only is this a devastating loss to the family, but to the community as well. May God bless and comfort the Treherne family at this difficult time. You are in my prayers.

Over ten years ago she removed a small knot from my neck and scraped a mole on my leg. I was going to call so she could look at it again. What a lost.
