Kathleen Lenore Kneeland, born Kathleen Lenore Mrotek on December 12, 1948, in Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully in Georgia on May 4, 2025. Kathleen's early years in Montgomery shaped her lifelong love of learning and community. She graduated from Auburn University with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in 1972, marking the beginning of a career defined by creativity, intellect, and connection. She married her high school sweetheart, Bernie Kneeland, and together they raised two children, Kate and Patrick.

Professionally, Kathleen excelled in public relations and marketing throughout the 1980s in Maryland and Virginia, where her sharp wit and warmth left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. In the early 1990s, she returned to her hometown of Montgomery to work as a consultant for her brother Patrick Mrotek's company, Quattro Consulting, further strengthening the bonds of family and community.

Kathleen was a voracious reader, known for her sharp intellect, humor, and love of long, philosophical conversations. She was an avid dog lover, a passionate gardener, and found peace in fishing and mornings spent savoring coffee. The beach was a special place for her - a source of relaxation and reflection. Above all, Kathleen's life was centered on her family.

She is survived by her daughter Katie Girard, son-in-law, Ryan Girard, and their son Ethan Girard; her son, Patrick Kneeland; her daughter-in-law Kristin Kneeland; and their children Kara, Teagan, and Kevin Kneeland; and her beloved niece, Kennis Grace Mrotek. Kathleen is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Mrotek; her father, Leonard Mrotek of Montgomery, and her brother Patrick Mrotek.

Kathleen's legacy is one of love, laughter, and wisdom. She will be remembered for her compassion, her keen mind, and the humor and inspiration she brought to those who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, AL, on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, at 10:00 AM Central Time.
