Kathleen M. Krachinski (nee Szrom), beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away on Jan. 13, 2023.
Born to Chester and Bernice (nee Pisowicz) on Sept. 15, 1949, Kathy graduated from nursing school in 1970 and went on to receive her bachelor's degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods and master's from Notre Dame.
She worked in various nursing jobs in Michigan City, Indiana, and retired as vice president at Franciscan Alliance.
Kathy married Jerome Krachinski on Nov. 19, 1972, and had one son, Bradley Krachinski (Amber Rhoads).
Kathy is survived by her son; her grandchildren, Jordan Krachinski, Jacob Krachinski, Kaitlyn Krachinski, Elizabeth Krachinski, Nicole Krachinski, Damien Dolf and Hayley Dolf; and one great-grandchild, Malakai Krachinski; her brothers, Lawrence Szrom (Joni) and Jerome Szrom (Gale); and sister, Marge Campbell (Brian). She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary (Tom) Clune.
Kathy was a kind and generous person, often helping others in their career path and helping in care of their relatives. She loved her grandchildren and her dog, Turner.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be from noon until the time of service in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
