I was a 1967 classmate of Kathleen's at Jefferson Junior High School in Washington DC; at the time she lived with her family around 25th and "S" Street SE. She was already very accomplished on the flute, a pillar of our orchestra, very polite, and an excellent overall student. I last saw Kathleen at the 1970 prom at Madeira, the excellent Virginia private school to which Kathleen went after Jefferson.

I am so sorry for your loss. I feel so lucky to have gotten to know Kathleen over the years from traveling in Napa for Erin's bachelorette to discussing needlepoint at the twins birthday party. She was such an amazing woman, mother, wife and grandmother and will be greatly missed. I know she lived with VHL and made a donation to the alliance in her memory.

Our family is so lucky to know Kathleen. It all started with a simple and smiling face chat at the Musical settlement, which turned out that is her last performance as the director. Our 6-year old daughter Jessie wanted to learn playing flute, which is the reason we were there. Kathleen welcomed us to her home later. We became lifelong best friends, especially to Jessie. She learned a lot from Kathleen, not only learned how to play flute, but also learned about music, about life, and beyond. Her attitude toward her life inspired everyone in our family. Kathleen is my daughter´s best teacher, our best friend forever.

Sharing a table with her and Chris at our annual Kensington Green Holiday party led to a wonderful friendship. Our mutual love of reading led Kathleen to joining me and fellow neighbors in our Book Club. She will be greatly missed!
