I had the honor to work at Pierpont Community Tech College in WV while Dr. Nelson was the interim president. We both started at Pierpont the same day. We were both lost looking for different areas of the college & I said, " I´m a new employee & just starting today - I´m kind of lost" I had no clue I´m talking with our President mind you, Dr. Nelson tells me "I´m new myself & also just starting today." She was so genuine and asking me who I was, what section I worked. This person is taking such a vested interest in me I felt so comfortable. I asked her who she was & where she worked & that´s where I learned she´s my interim president. I felt like a goober but Dr. Nelson put me at ease. I could tell I was in the presence of greatness. She loved getting to know people. She had a heart for so much to include veterans. My condolences to her family. RIP Dr. Nelson.

I just got a call from Jeff Reiswig. He gave me the very sad news about Kathy. Though our lives moved in different directions, she was clearly a force on the path she chose. Kathy was a person who will always be held in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. You are all thought of during this time and I hope that the light of her life will help to push out the darkness of her passing. Most sincerely, Sara(Fezler) Allex.
