Kathleen Peterson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 9 to Jan. 11, 2015.
Peterson, Kathleen Ann 56 Sept. 15, 1958 Dec. 27, 2014 Kathleen Peterson passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014. She was in the presence of her immediate family at Portland Adventist Medical Center. Kathleen was born at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, in 1958. She moved to Portland in January of 1980. Married to Michael Peterson in 1989, she was the mother of Hannah and Haden Peterson, who are now 23 and 22, respectively. Kathleen had an infectious smile and was a woman of many traits. She was a licensed massage therapist, a stay-at-home mom, everyone's go-to dog sitter and an avid walker. She was best known for her honesty, for being strong willed and for her compassion for her friends and family. She was the biggest Oregon Ducks football fan anybody knew as well an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Kathleen will always be a loving mother, caring sister and loyal friend to many. Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, James Thomas Burke; and mother, Mary Joann Burke of Springfield, Ohio. She is survived by her ex-husband, Michael Peterson; daughter, Hannah Peterson; son, Haden Peterson; siblings, Sean Burke of Cincinnati, Maureen (Burke) McDonough of Rockford, Ill., Colleen (Burke) Stucky of South Charleston, Ohio, Kyle Burke of Alexandria, Va., Devin Burke of Springfield, Neal Burke of Portland and Patrick Burke of Springfield. There is a celebration of life scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at St. John Church, 2036 S.E. Jefferson St., Milwaukie, OR 97222. Any and all are welcome to attend. Kathleen was a great person and wonderful mom. My son has been friends with Haden and Hannah since grade school. Haden and Hannah have grown into wonderful adults. She had a great sense of humor and a true love for animals...she will be missed tremendously by her friends and family but she completed her most important job on earth which was raising two great kids.

I know you'll be taking care of all our pups and kitties in heaven, that's just a part of you. I figure you'd be cheering for the Ducks tonight so I know you'll be right beside me jumping and down with each of their touchdowns. Miss you, so many nights I thing about calling you and have to realize I'll just have to talk to you other ways. Loved you for all those many years we were friends. So glad you touched my life.

Maureen, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. Way too young. In this time of saddness I am wondering who someone who was born at OSU, but lives in Oregon would be cheering for tonight. Hoping it was the Ducks.

Thinking of you and your family.
