Kathleen Louise Rice

Kathleen "Kathy" Rice was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world after fighting valiantly against multiple health issues. Her heart gave out from the fight on July 18, 2024, at age 77. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Kathy was born to Robert and Iris Foster on July 9, 1947. She had two wonderful sisters Pam and Robin (predeceased) and a brother Robert.

After graduating from high school, Kathy married the love of her life, Ted Rice, on June 27, 1969, and had recently celebrated 55 years of a beautiful marriage. Together they had 3 daughters, Peace Rice Baker (Dennis Baker), Jessica Rice (Brighid Graves), and Krista Rice Watkins (Glen Watkins). Their family continued to grow with 5 grandchildren, Elyssa, Slade, Ryker, Thorin, and Devereux, and two great grandchildren, Callamae and newborn Cataleya (whom Kathy passed on her way to Heaven).

Kathy learned to love camping, attended Bible School with her husband, and learned to ride horses and milk cows on a ranch in Saskatchewan.

Kathy earned her BA later in life when her children were young, and became a para-educator at Mount Anthony Union High School, working with children for 20 plus years of her life in varying capacities.

Kathy loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed her church family and friends greatly. She loved drawing and painting along with camping and hiking. She had an immense fondness for animals, especially her babies Lucy and Poppy. She also adored cardinals and collected cardinal keepsakes over her lifetime, which now hold a very special meaning to her family because of her love for them.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 pm on August 12, 2024, at the Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church, 484 Hill Road, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Inc (37 Gilbert Street Cambridge, NY 12816) on her behalf.
