Kathleen Joyce "Kathy" Stratton, age 81 of Fremont, passed away peacefully following her battle with cancer. Kathy was born on August 5, 1942 in Muskegon to Lawrence Francis and Yolanda Genivieve (Longoni) Bisson Sr. and graduated from Fremont High School in 1960. Kathy met and later married Jerold "Jerry" Stratton on May 18, 1963 at the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont. Kathy had been a secretary at the St. Michael Catholic School and later became the clerk for Denver Township where she served for 18 years from 1986 until 2004 when she retired. Kathy was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia where she was a member of the Altar Society, had served as the funeral planner for many years, sang in the choir and played the organ for many years and had served as the treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. She was a member of the Michigan Township Clerks Association and had served on the Board of Directors of the Newaygo County School Employees Credit Union. Kathy enjoyed sewing, quilting for others, baking and had been a caterer for many years in the area and enjoyed casino trips with Jerry and friends.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry of Fremont; her children, Jerry M. Stratton of Round Rock, Texas; James M. (Patricia Johnston) Stratton of Shelbyville, Michigan; Joseph K. (Jennifer) Stratton of White Cloud; Mary S. (Duke) Dyer of Fremont; John K. (Bobbi) Stratton of Hesperia; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; her sisters and brother, Mariann (significant other – Mick Meinhold) Erickson of St. Louis, Missouri; Janice Roberts of Grand Rapids; Patrick (Sandra) Bisson of Flushing, Michigan; sister-in-law, Peggy Bisson of Grant; several nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence "Larry" Bisson.
VISITATION : Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 5-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W. 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 and Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 10-10:45am at Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia. ROSARY SERVICES : Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL : Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 11am at Christ The King Catholic Church 263 S. Elm Street Hesperia MI 49421. INTERMENT : St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in White Cloud. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Helen DeVos Children's Hospital for Cancer Research or White Cloud Area Fire Department.

Kathy has been apart of so many of our families throughout CTK and beyond. A Godsend to so many of us with her soft spoken comfort, music and fun. I am very saddened to hear about Kathy's death from the cancer that she has been dealing with for some time now. Yet, I'm happy that she is with our Lord Jesus now for eternity free from pain and suffering. I have helped out with the music at Christ the King in Hesperia numerous times over the past 2 years and would always try and connect with her either before or after Mass to say hello. I will always remember her friendly wave and smile during the sing of peace as I was at the organ. May the comforting arms and warm smile of our Lord Jesus Christ surround her soul now and forever.
