Age 68, of Dormont, on Friday June 17, 2011. Beloved wife of 32 years of Jim Sypien; beloved mother of Marianne (Ray Carter) Sypien, Pattianne (Michael) DiPofi and Michael J. (Erin) Sypien; sister of Kerry Gich, Kristine Will, and the late Kenneth Kyle; loving grandmother of Amanda, Chelsey, Andrew, Dominic and Alaina; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends welcome Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SVCS 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. Funeral Mass in St. Justin Church 539 Boggs Avenue, Mt. Washington Tuesday 10 a.m. Memorials in her name may be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St. Pittsburgh, PA 15243.

To Kathy's family,
I recently had the opportunity to have a long conversation with Kathy because we were planning our 50th high school reunion. She spoke frankly about her health problems but remained upbeat and hopeful. We spoke of long ago memories and I'm so happy I had the chance to connect with her once again. I wanted you to know that she will be remembered as one of the sweetest ladies to walk this earth and I'm so sorry for your loss. I will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. May happy memories help to ease your suffering and knowing she is at peace now soothe your hurt.

My sympathy to the Kyle family and Jim.
I grew up with Kathy in Mt Washington, went to school with her.We were in minstrel shows with her and her aunt and uncle and grandfather. We had alot of good times together, she was a fun person. May she rest in peace.
