Kathryn Bastress Obituary

LEWISBURG - Kathryn J. Bastress, 87, of 100 N. Fourth St., formerly of Northumberland and Danville, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late George and Jennie Pursell. She married Richard H. Bastress on Oct. 19, 1947. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2000.
Kathryn was a 1939 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lewisburg.
Kathryn enjoyed reading books, especially mysteries, watching TV, talking on the phone and looking at flowers. She was fond of stuffed animals and loved her dog, Pepper.
She is survived by one son, Stephen Bastress; a granddaughter, Sherry Bastress; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Wayne Bastress, in 2002.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will follow at 11 with her pastor, the Rev. Andrew R. Morgan, officiating.
Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family welcomes flowers, but if desired, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

To Kathryns family, My husband and I cleaned for Kathryn for a very short time but got to know her pretty well. We send our thoughts and prayers to you and and we will miss her.

Steve my prayers and deepest sympathy goes with you and your family. I grew up knowing Kate as a dear and gracious woman. My mother, Valda Keefer and your mom were dear friends. You and I grew up together. Kate will be deeply missed.
