Kathryn Bongartz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2025.
Kathryn Bongartz (née Mettille), age 66, passed away on September 12, 2025, in Old River-Winfree, Texas. Born on March 15, 1959, in Ottawa, Illinois, Kathryn lived a life marked by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Kathryn was the beloved daughter of Margaret and Elmer "Buster" Mettille and the cherished granddaughter of Louis J. and Edith L. Mettille. She was preceded in death by her sister Gale Swartz, brother Louis Mettille and her parents.

She is survived by her devoted daughter Allison Godwin and son-in-law Nathan Godwin. Kathryn found immense joy in being a grandmother to Braycen and Brexton Godwin-her pride and joy. She treasured every moment spent with them, whether cheering them on at sporting events, crafting together, or simply enjoying their company.

Kathryn's love for family extended deeply to her siblings: sister Sharon Robinson and brothers Mike Mettille, John Mettille, and Allan Mettille. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

A woman of boundless energy and compassion, Kathryn embraced life with open arms. She had a passion for travel and especially loved going on cruises with family. Whether exploring new places or enjoying quiet moments at home, she brought light into every room she entered.

Kathryn will be remembered as kind-hearted, thoughtful, selfless, and generous-a truly amazing grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her infectious kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
