Broeren family,
Katie was one of my first friends when I transferred to the hospital. She showed me around and took me under her wing. She was the definition of kindness and love. She would always carry around bus tickets and made sure that everyone was able to get home safely. She pushed me to go for my current job, and would call to check in on me once I got it. I am doing what I am doing today because of her. I inspire to touch peoples lives the way she touched mine and so many others. I miss her terribly, but know she is at peace with butters. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Broeren Family,
I have so many memories of Katie from college and beyond. She was generally the life of the party back then. We just had a long, great conversation last Sunday - she was happy and proud of her accomplishments and all of you. It was so good to catch up. Katie had an indominable spirit and she worked so hard for herself and others. She missed Butters. I am so sad for you and all of us. May she rest in joy and love with those who have gone before.

So saddened to hear the news of Katie´s passing. We did many trips together over the years for the White House and enjoyed them all. She knew how to keep those press folks in line. Not an easy task.

However, the signature trip I´ll remember most with Katie was our trip to the Vatican for Pope John Paul II. She was a one of a kind.

My deepest sympathies to the Broeren family. I know how much she´ll be missed, but I do know of the great memories she´s left behind. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I send this Irish blessing. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

With sympathy.
