Kathy Byers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 1, 2023.
Kathy Jeanne Byers, affectionately known as Mimi, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on January 13, 1956, in Cumberland, Maryland, to Earl and Hilda Imes. Kathy was 67 years old at the time of her passing.

Kathy dedicated 30 years of her life as a legal secretary at Castleman Title and Escrow. Her commitment and expertise were valued by her colleagues and clients alike.

Kathy was a proud graduate of Dupont High School, class of 1974. She cherished the memories and friendships made during her time there.

She was a devoted member of Hermitage United Methodist Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith.

In her free time, Kathy found joy in spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved grandbabies. She had a special passion for her dogs and loved spoiling them. Additionally, Kathy enjoyed monthly lunches with her fellow Dupont Bulldogs, reminiscing about their high school days.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Kathy at Hermitage United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Buford Byers; her daughter, Allyson Moore (Matthew); her son, Michael Byers (Bonnie); her cherished grandchildren, Harper Moore, Hudson Moore, Hewitt Moore, and Helaina Byers; and her dear friends, Karen and Dave Perry, and Karla and Steve Bailey. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Imes; her mother, Hilda Imes; and her sister, Virginia "Jenny" Imes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kathy's memory to the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary in Mount Juliet, TN, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Kathy will be deeply missed by her beloved family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love will be cherished forever. May she rest in peace.

Kathy was one of the kindest, caring person I have ever known. She could always put a smile on my face when I was with her or on the phone with her. We met at Mrs. Malone's kindergarten and went on to Dupont together. And even ended up at the same college and graduated together. I have always loved her and always will. We have always kept in touch over the years. The pictures below are of us visiting together and having dinner together. I know she is watching us for Heaven. Someday we will see her again and get to share all those things we loved about her again. I will miss you my friend! Pamela Overstreet Panozzo

Sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. My mother was Catherine and my grandfather was Kelly Imes, Regia's brother. I remember Kathy from the Imes reunion many many years ago. Prayers for comfort in the coming days.

She took Karen and me for a ride in her Volkswagen. I was about 10 years old. We listened to Elton John, Someone Saved My Life Tonight. She was always happy, always laughing and so much fun to be around.
