Kathy McIntosh-Ely Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2024.
Kathy Elaine McIntosh-Ely, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away in her home on October 1, 2024, in Tallahassee, FL. Born on September 22, 1946, Kathy dedicated her life to nurturing not only her own children but also extended her love and care to over 50 foster children, embodying the spirit of maternal love and compassion.

Kathy was a proud graduate of Dunedin High School and later established her own cleaning service in Tallahassee. This venture not only supported her family but also allowed her the flexibility to be actively involved in her children's lives and later, in caring for her grandchildren. Her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to her family's well-being left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A devout member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Tallahassee, Kathy was deeply involved in various women's groups and cherished her community of faith. Her hobbies included spending time with family and friends, traveling to the beach or the mountains of Tennessee, and country western dancing. These activities brought her immense joy and created countless cherished memories with friends and family.

Kathy is survived by her brother, Thomas (Pat) McGonigal; Joann McNeilly; children Thomas "Joey" McIntosh, Michele (David) Gavagni, Christy McIntosh, Kris Storm, and Michael (Rosemarie) Morgan; grandchildren Kerilyn and Caden Gavagni, Alex McIntosh, Emma, Harper, and Payton Kirkland, Laurel Budzyna, Olly; as well as nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert E. and Jean N. McGonigal, and her brother, John McGonigal.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kathy's memory to Big Bend Hospice, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or any organization or cause that is near to your heart, continuing her legacy of care and compassion. Kathy's life was a testament to the power of unconditional love and the profound impact one person can have on the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Ms. Kathy you will be dearly missed! I enjoyed working with you and taking care of you I always told her how much I loved her and treated her like my own mother. Ms. Kathy always loved the outdoors I always took her out in the garage she didn't care too much for taking strolls she just watched everyone walking by we talked about everything under the moon mostly about God and the Bible and I always had questions for her lots. I remember at night when we were sitting in the garage I brought a bug zapper so the bugs wouldn't be biting us funny thing I remember we actually enjoy watching that zapper zapping bugs very amusing lol! And so many more memories that I will always cherish in my heart so in mind.

What a sweet lady. I met her a number of years ago and she was kind and funny. Glad I had an opportunity to see in her in September. Steve
