In memory of

Tom Rhodes
July 18, 2018
Bob and Kay were a centerpiece of the Law Firm. We remember them very fondly.
Kay, of course, was a vibrant presence in everything of civic importance in Atlanta. When she touched a project, it became alive. She genuinely cared about helping people. From her days as a South Georgia farm girl (as she put it), then the young wife of a prominent Atlanta lawyer and the mother of successful children, and her indefatigable involvement in civic controversies, and to her support for conservation and Tybee Island, and finally to her living with her disability, she set a standard that we all will remember and admire.. We were all richer for having known her.

Dear Daniel, Tim and Jennifer. Although we no longer live in Atlanta we happened to get the AJC the day your mom's obituary appeared. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and simply wanted to share with you how many wonderful memories I have of your family over the years from St. James to Westminster. I always admired your mom so much for her spirit and activism and love for her children and your dad. I know you will always cherish the special memories you have as well. May you feel peace and comfort in the knowledge that she loved the three of you more than life itself. Warmly, Sue Astley

June was a popular month for Minkovitz birthdays; a grand time for fun on Tybee , crabbing from the pier or by the jetties; or Mtn. City with Mama and Aunt Liz taking us to Black Rock or running around War Woman Dell. Kay was a leader, to be looked up to, playing the piano, singing a beautiful song, remember "Man in a Raincoat", sung on stage at SHS; looking like a southern belle in her formal gowns, remember the rose one that we all wore!
I love you folks,
Lucy (Magoosy)

It is with great sadness that I extend sincere sympathy to the family of Kay, my dear friend for many, many years. Our daughters were born several days apart and we followed each other's lives through much happiness and sadness remaining close to each other till the end. The loss is huge.

My sincere condolences to the family. Kay's legacy in Atlanta will never be forgotten by the planners and neighborhoods that marveled at her intelligence, kindness and diligence. I can almost hear her once again plotting against a foolish development while sharing a laugh with her friend Bill Kennedy.

Like the entire Minkovitz clan, from Ike and Liz on down to the children, Kay was integral to the Kelly family growing up in Statesboro. Her grace, beauty and caring will live on. From all the Kelly's to all the Minkovitz's, our hearts are with you.

It would take quite a while to write all the memories from Kindergarten through grade 12. Spending time at the Minkovitz beach house at Tybee, riding the train (the Nancy Hanks) from Dover to Atlanta to the Tech-Games, keeping up our friendship after high school, college and married life, and all of those spend-the-nights at her house and mine are only a few. Still have not grasped the fact of Kay's passing..However she is no longer suffering.
Condolences to Jennifer, Timothy, and Daniel. Also to David, Donna, and Alan.

We are sad to hear of Kay's passing. We were fortunate to stumble into Kay's friendship through Jennifer and Susan's babysitting our Kathryn and Ben. She sympathized with my lack of nearby family and helped me in so many ways. I was in awe of her energy, intelligence, beauty and passion for meaningful issues outside her well run home. Her grasp of issues and ability to address them benefitted all of us. and she was funny! so very funny!! We've lost a vital, irreplaceable Atlantan. Hugs to Jennifer, Tim and Daniel.

I mostly just knew of Kay and only talked with her briefly on the phone once or twice but I knew she would stop in my father's drugstore on Roswell Rd. in Atlanta. I know my parents thought highly of her. If I know my genealogy correctly, we were 2nd cousins. Saddened to hear of her passing. Baruch Dayan Emet.

Kay was such an amazing woman! As a "baby enviro" and new Georgia Conservancy staff member back in the early 2000's, I was blessed to have been touched by her infectious energy and inspired by her passion for the environment. We accomplished some amazing things with Kay and our world is better because of her. Sending love and prayers for healing.

When I heard of Kay's passing yesterday I immediately (other than my personal memories growing up) remembered her as an activist. I remember meetings at her house before Ga 400 was built. Many other memories...too many to list. Whoever wrote the obituary did a perfect job! My thoughts are with Jennifer, Daniel and Timothy. Your mom was loved!
