Art Sokolinski, 72, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 9, at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, Fla. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today at International Casket and Urn Funeral Home, 2689 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Fla. Mr. Sokolinski was born in Detroit in 1937 and moved to Florida in 1998 from Effingham. He worked as a commodities broker for National Farm Organization and after he retired was employed at Tampa National Airport. Art enjoyed starting and running his own businesses including restaurants and novelty shops in Michigan, Illinois and Florida. Art also served in the U.S. Air Force. Art was preceded in death by his wife Rose, his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his children, Patti Smith and husband Larry of Ohio, George Sokolinski of Florida, Dan Sokolinski of Illinois and Deanna Koester and husband Carl of Illinois; grandchildren, Scott and Madison Sokolinski of Illinois and Courtney and Colin Koester of Illinois; brother, George Sokolinski of Kentucky and sister, Betty Longo of Florida. Art was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved to spend his spare time fishing.
