Keiko Omans Obituary
Keiko was born on September 13, 1931, in Kyushu, Japan. Following World War II, she came to the United States.
A member of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI), a world peace organization founded on Nichiren Buddhist principles of respect for all and activating one's courage, wisdom, and compassion, she warmly guided and supported whomever she met for over 65 years.
Keiko was preceded in death by husband Ward, daughter Patricia (Schema), and son-in-law Mark Schema. Her interment will take place in the family plot in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cheboygan this spring.
Keiko leaves behind a loving community, including SGI members and friends throughout Michigan, whom she considered family.
Keiko Omans, mother, grandmother, friend, and disciple of SGI mentor Daisaku Ikeda, remains embedded deep within the hearts of many, including her family, daughters Melinda, Kim, and Dee, sons Kevin and Pete, and grandchildren Emma, Quinn, and Kendra.
