In memory of

Keith A. Callahan

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

January 9, 2019

Hey bud I know it's been a while since I've posted and I'm sorry. I don't want you to think I've forgotten about you. My girlfriend has been dealing with some tough losses the last couple of days and I'm hoping maybe you can search for them and pass along a message. She misses them deeply and prays that they find what they weren't able to find with us. Cal I think of you all the time buddy and would give anything to have you back. It's crazy man, when people around the ones we love it makes us think of the ones we've lost and you're it for me bro. I can accept my grandparents deaths over time but I'm never gonna get over you. We had so many memories that I'd hoped to relive with you one day and I lost that. I pray for your mom and your family, I know Steven needs your help most but if you could do me this one last things man I'll forever be in debt to you. Much love....TK

Cal,

I am not quite sure why I never signed this. We got way back to the 7th grade together.. We played hockey together, partied together and even managed to get in trouble together. I think about you and your sacrifice every SINGLE day kid! Your heroism makes me feel the need to push myself that much harder each and every day. Thank you for your sacrifice old friend and god bless.

In Memory of Keith ~ (Debra Estep)

February 6, 2009

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Keith, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I will never forget Keith and will always have great memories of him. From the day we left Boston for Basic training to the day he talked me into trying out for the boxing team, to the days I would go to his room to drag him out of bed for practice. Keith was a true friend and a great person. I am sorry I have never gotten to know his wife or kids and hope to get to know them. Keith I look forward to seeing you again someday hope youll be ready to do some more sparing behind the gates.

Keith,
We learned to soldier together in basic and in your early days in Ft. Bragg. You were always the toughest, strongest, and funniest one in our group, and a hell of a fighter. Knock 'em out bam-bam. To his wife and children, I didn't know you as many of his friends didn't, but I shed tears of sorrow for your loss and tears of pride for his saccrifice. HE IS REMEMBERED AS A HERO SHOULD BE. Keith, May the final round bell of victory ring, for you are the victor.

SFC Keith Callahan was one of my closest friends in the world. I often think of the times we spent together in our 4 years together in Aco 2/325. Keith or grumpy as I called him was always a strong leader and a great friend to many, and a man who loved his family more then anything. I miss you boss.

I don't really know what to say. "Sergeant" Callahan was a leader no matter his rank. It was in his character. He was one of the toughest men I have ever known. I only write this now on behalf of the rest of 1st Platoon who undoubtably feel the same way. We can only ever hope to be the Soldiers you would have us be. Rest in Peace Sergeant.

I spent close to 3 months with SFC Callahan in Ranger School. It had to have been one of the most difficult times in our lives, but I can tell you that SFC Callahan always kept us smiling and motivated. He was a tremendous leader and good friend. I still think we were the coldest two Rangers in the class even if we were the "Boys from Boston". My sympathies and love go out to his family.

Thank you for the sacrifice made by Sgt 1st Class Callahan and the sacrifice made by everyone who loves and misses him! May God bless all of you!!

August 6, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

For Keith's Family, and his friends.

Keith represented the essence of a compassionate, disciplined soldier who went above and beyond the call of duty. A true RANGER. He insured that all his soldiers were first, and befriended all by his leadership example.

Keith mentored my son, PFC Alex Raske, not only about the ins and outs of military life, but was his coach/workout partner. My son spoke often with respect and affection of Keith, and was devastated at his loss as was the whole of Alpha Company.

My family wishes to extend not only to the Callahan family and friends, but to the members of his unit our sympathies, our prayers our undying support to our cause of freedon and their mission.

Keith was my squad leader during our first tour in Iraq back in 2003. There was not a better squad leader out there in my opinion. I left the squad early to come back to the states and get out of the Army. I am glad to see he went to Ranger School (which he talked about doing back in 03 in Iraq)

I am very upset to hear about this and just found out from an old friend from 3rd platoon. My condolences go out to his wife and family. If interested, I have old photos of us and our squad.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Dear Mrs. Callahan, children & Family,
May I send you my deepest sympathy at this time and say that my thoughts have been with you & your family since news of the death of Sgt. K. Callahan reached our communities. I didn’t have the privilege of knowing our fallen hero, Keith but I graduated with his wife’s Aunt Cyndi Wagner Goss and I, too, am a proud aunt of an Army (veteran) soldier boy who served 6 years with the 1st. Calvary Div., 91st. Eng. BN…nearly 15 months in Baghdad.
I can well imagine your depth of loss and hope that the kind thoughts of your family and many friends will make your grief a little easier to bear. From my heart, I thank Sgt. Callahan for his Army values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and his personal courage!

I have had to say good-bye to alot of friends in Iraq. I am still very much in shock over your death. Just know that I am so proud of what you became and did. To the friends and family of SFC Keith A. Callahan,

The lost of this great man, father, friend, protector, provider, and NCO is a great lost to everyone to include his family, friends, soldiers, and those who have served directly under him. SFC Callahan was my first squadleader when I reported into 2/325 AIR. He mentored me to be the NCO that I have become. I just hope that I can exceed his expectations of all soldiers. He carried high standards, and would except nothing less but your best. I know that he is watching over us all, along with the other WHITE FALCONS in the heavens. I know he has fallen into the ranks of those who have fallen before us,and has taken charge of his platoon provide by our heavenly commander in chief. REST IN PEACE KEITH. Your leadership will continue in every soldier that you have ever spoken to. For you have made a lasting impression on us all. Now in the words of SFC Keith A. Callahan " GET UP THERE!" Keith take your rightful place by our commanders side and lead your new soldiers in peace. You will never be forgotten. We love and respect you, your legacy will live on in us all.

To Keith's family:
Keith and I were assigned to the same squad in Ranger School and were paired together as Ranger Buddies. Keith could sew better than me so he put the reflective tape on my rucksack and hat while I tied the knots on his load carrying equipment since I was better at that. Little things like that and his tenaciousness and toughness helped get me through one of the single most difficult trials anyone can experience. I have a lot of fond memories of him despite the miserable place we were in. All my prayers are with you, and know that he will never be forgotten.

I live outside Bannerville but never got to know any of you but you have been in my thoughts constantly since I heard. I too had a family member there and I remember how I felt the day he called to say he had been injured. I can not begin to imagine how all his family must feel but please know that we are all proud of him for doing what he belived in and hold your head high. It is because of men and women like him that we can continue to enjoy what we have. God Bless you all. Thank you for your sacrifice.
