On this 20th anniversary of your passing you still are remembered for an awesome hockey player but also as a great man. My favorite memory of you was at my cousin Marianne and Jerry Korabs wedding . Rest in peace Keith. Your legacy lives on.....

You Will Always Be Our Favorite BlackHawk. You were the kindest person , best defense man. My brother is 55 now. He was 7 when we met you outside gate 3 1/2. Waited for you after every game. He has your hockey stick on our family room wall. We will never forget you.

*So many years later and still his memory lives on! I will always cherish the times I would run into this great human being with a heart of gold and the unbelievable modesty of a Chicago sports legend and monster of Blackhawk lore...

Being his biggest fan growing up as a kid in the 70´s wearing #3 and donning my shin guards held on with electrical tape was all that mattered.

His pride, class and demeanor was something I tried to emmulate ever since.
We are all better people and lifelong Blackhawks fans just having him as a part of this city for as long as we were lucky to have him.

I´m 60 years old now and will never forget the impact he made as a player and more importantly as a person...

Cindy, Kevin & Molly - thanks for sharing him with Chicago and the Hockey world

Dear Cindy, Kevin and Molly - It's now been 4 weeks since the accident and I still find myself thinking of Keith on a daily basis. He signed a hockey stick for my son Aidan and played a little one on one at the Club last November. I look at that stick every night and it reads

" Always keep your head up". So that is what I do!! God Bless your family

My Deepest Sympathy to you and your family. As a teenager Keith's pictures hung in my room. My dream came true when I became a season ticket holder from 1977-1990 and was delighted to watch Keith perform. Also a member of the Standbys I traveled to many cities and attend functions where I was amazed at the personality and friendliness of Keith. I will cherish the pictures, the yearbooks, and memories of days gone by.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless.

I can only imagine how you and your family felt upon getting the news about your husband's accident. I know how it affected me while listening to WGN in the middle of the night and they came across with the news. I was immediately brought to tears. I was filled with memories of going with my family to the Stadium to watch the Hawks (we were season ticket holders back then). I remember absolutely loving watching #3 skate and protect those he skated with. I remember a few years later (around '73) when we had #3 come out for a promotion we were having for our family business. Boy, getting to spend the whole day with Keith Magnuson was something that, I, as a 22 year old was pretty happy about. Then to follow him as he went on - his work w/Special Olympics particularly - well, he certainly was a gentle giant as far as I was concerned.

They say only the good are taken from us early - that certainly is true in this case. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. You will always have your personal guardian Angel now. I'm sure that doesn't make things better right now, but it will in the future.

Respectfully,

Dear Magnuson Family,

My heart ached the day I read that Keith had passed away. I have been a Blackhawk fan all 39 years of my life. I have played hockey for most of those years, even with my brother and father at times. I lost my father almost 12 years ago, and my brother passed away this past September. I know the grief you are feeling, and I want you to know that I have found (and am still) finding strength from my family and dearest friends.

I still remember watching Keith play from the days when my dad used to take me to dozens of Hawk's games. (He had season tickets from the late '60's until his death in 1992) My dad always thought him to be the gutsiest and most loyal player to wear that Hawk sweater. Whenever I lost a tooth growing up, my dad referred to me as "Toothless Maggie" to all of our family and friends. Being a hockey player at that young age, I thought it was the coolest thing to be given that nickname, at least until my teeth grew in.

I met Keith when I was young, at a promotional event in the early '70's. At the time, it was a thrill to shake his hand. Looking back, I now consider it an honor. I wish that the professional athletes of today, in any sport, could play their game with the same dedication and respect that Keith did. He will be missed. But most importantly, he will be remembered.

God bless you.

Dear Cindy,Kevin, and Molly: I thought of your family all day today as we celebrated the holiday. I found out Keith died last week while I was looking for the death notice of my husbands aunt. When I saw ex-hawk star dies in car crash, my first thoughts were please god don't let that be Keith. I always considered myself to be a fan but yet a close personal friend. After reading all the postings over the last week I have learned that Keith made everyone feel so special. I can only imagaine the pain and sorrow your family must be feeling from such a great loss. When my husband was sick with Leukemia someone gave me this poem:

God Grant me the serentiy to accept the things I cannot change.

The courage to change the things I can

And the wisdom to know the difference.

My thoughts and prayer will be with your family. Your loss has also made a big impact on myself and several thousand people in the Chicagoland area.

Who can forget how special this man made each person he met feel? He was truly a hero we could always count on growing-up, not like athletes of today...Keith was genuine in his love of his sport, work, family, friends and LIFE! He wore his heart on his sleeve for all to see...I loved him to pieces...GOD BLESS KEITH MAGNUSON

Dear Magnuson Family,

On October 13, 2003 - Columbus Day -I met Keith Magnuson, the famous Blackhawk hockey player. I was invited to the Five Seasons Country Club in Northbrook to have lunch and enjoy tennis, yoga, basketball and other sports along with other "Make-A-Wish" children. My name is Katie Kelly and I have Cystic Fibrosis. Art Norman of NBC - Channel 5 videotaped me talking to Mr. Magnuson. He was very nice and autograghed a hockey stick for me and one for my brother, Jack. He told me, "You made my day". I will always remember this day and treasure the time he spent talking to me.

I am deeply saddened by the "TRAGIC LOSS" of Keith. I was a permanant fixture at the Stadium back in the 70'S and have such fond memories of Maggie. Dear Cindy, Kevin, and Molly,

Thank you so much for opening your hearts to greet the people that had some tie (no matter how remote) to Keith. Your gesture was gracious and unselfish. It will never cease to amaze me how many lives Keith truly touched. From the time I was a little girl and had my picture taken with two newly married people there will always be a very special place in my heart for Keith and his family. It was a pleasure meeting you all. I'm just sorry we did so under such circumstances.

Dear Magnuson Family,

I met Keith when I was a caddy master and Kevin was interested in working with his buddies Pat and Steve. It was obvious to me what a caring father he was based on the fact that he asked more questions than all the other parents combined. When Keith played hockey he competed harder than anyone else on the ice. As a parent he also put forth unmatched effort to ensure his children were happy and successful.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family due to this horrible tragedy. Keith made the world a much better place and improved countless lives through his tireless charity work and kindness. His life was one that we all should emulate. It is true that life is short and that the good die young. It is also true that time heals all wounds, and I hope that with each passing day it becomes a little easier to accept this loss and adjust to life without him. And with each passing day remember that we are that much closer to spending eternity with him. God Bless.

To the Magnuson Family: As a teenager in the '70s and being totally smitten by Cliff Koroll and having a best friend who idolized Keith this is one of the saddest days of my life. I have tried to explain to my children how it was to be able to see and speak with Keith and how he made you feel like you were a friend. They are unable to comprehend that a man of his stature would take time for his fans like Keith did. It is a with a saddened heart I offer back to you all the love, joy, and comfort he gave to me and so many others. If there is a "bright" side to this, it's knowing that Keith is whipping around that heavenly rink at 100mph with all that red hair flying, his big toothless grin and having a blast. May God bless and comfort all of you. Peggy Pare

Dear Magnuson Family,

My heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your husband and father. I was a young girl all those years ago when Keith played with the Hawks. My friend loved Keith and I loved Cliff Korroll. What a pair they were back then. Keith was never to busy to sign an autograph, or stop for a picture...no matter how late they arrived at O'hare airport. Many years later, when I had a son of my own, Keith played a charity game against the Niles Police. Afterward, the guys went to a restaurant in Niles, and I took my son there for a bite to eat. We showed Keith some pictures from when I was a young girl and had my picture taken with him. He laughed and said, "Well, we have to up-date this picture tonight", and proceded to take a new picture with me. God bless you all. He was a wonderful man, and will be remembered always. My prayers are with you.

We were all devastated to hear the news about Keith. Special Olympic Opening Ceremonies will never be the same. He was an enthusiastic M.C. and always gave our St. Mary of Providence group that extra cheer. He was gracious to all our young people, never hesitated to have a photo taken or give an autograph to our "Special Kids".

We were fortunate to have a long visit and photo taken with him on May 7, 2003 and were able to thank him for the many years he did cheer us on. He then thanked me for volunteering for so many years. Who could not love this man??? We will miss him greatly.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers to all of you.

Please accept our deepest sympathies. My family and I had the great priviledge of meeting Keith at the Heads First Foundation Charity event at McMahons. It was such an honor to talk to a sports celebrity who treated us like real people. Not only did he take time to talk hockey, take pictures, and sign autographs, he really made an everlasting impression. When we heard the news, we all felt we lost a great friend. His honor, and the #3 will forever be in our hearts.

Dear Cindy and family;

My name is Shane, I met you and Keith at the Hearth Fare Restaurant as a teenager. My Mom, Pat and I used to take care of Keith when he lived at Valley Lo. He became a great friend to Mom and I and I was proud to have known Keith in my life. He alway's had the time to talk to me and he was a mentor figure to me. I cant imagine the pain you must be going through right now Cindy, but this last year for me has been difficult as well. I lost Mom and my youngest brother Brian to a terminal illness 7 months apart. Just wanted to let you know Keith was a gift in a lot of people's lives and I for one, was a better person for it. God bless.

To Cindy and family - Keith & his buddy Cliff Koroll were a huge part of my high school years. In today's vernacular, "stalking" would probably be used, but in the 70's, we were just harmless girls with big crushes. Every time they turned around we were there - autograph sessions, team arrivals/departures at O'Hare, and yes...outside of their Park Ridge apartment - we were there. Keith was never anything but pleasant and polite and always acted happy to see us. A class act who only improved with age. I am so sorry for your loss.

Maggie was probably born a giving person. When he was a senior at the University of Denver, I was in high school and skated at a weekly hockey clinic at DU. Maggie was there every week, skating with us, taking us through drills, sharing his love of hockey. How many college athletes even back then, would even come once ? But Maggie was there - really there and engaged with us - every week. A really great guy.

Cindy, Kevin, and Molly, I feel so lucky to have known your husband and dad. The grief I feel for you has been lifted only by memories from the past 17 years. As you know he was best bud to my wife’s father. To me he was the ice breaker and funny man who put me at ease when I was new to her family and friends. Maggie was at our wedding, all the [5] sibling weddings, holiday parties, sport and special events…and I always looked forward to seeing him. He accompanied us on the golf course, entertained us at dinner and always made us feel comfortable. He never had a bad day. He will truly be missed.

Magnuson Family & Friends:

A part of my childhood was lost when I heard of Keith's passing. Since I learned of the accident, I have been re-living all my great memories of Keith and my Blackhawks of the 70's. I was another fortunate little girl who started attending games quite young and fell in love with the sport of hockey and the Blackhawks. Keith was my favorite player and to this day #3 is my favorite number (34 years later).

I, too, was lucky enough to meet Keith at Knollwood Country Club when I was about 9 years old . Keith was there to speak to a bunch of young boys, but my parents arranged for me to meet Keith, too. That night I met my hero. He was so kind to this little girl, took pictures and put his arm around me - Keith made me feel so special. He had a fan for life!

My heart breaks for you and I pray for your peace during these difficult days. Know that there are many, many of us old fans who honor Keith in thoughts and prayers.

Growing up in the 60's and 70's a young Black Hawks fan was quite a childhood to remember. Especially when I was supposed to be in bed early on a Sunday night so to be up early for school the next morning, only to get into trouble for listening to Lloyd Petit screaming " And a left by Magnuson! A right !" . My screaming " Get him, get him ! " didn't help out with the judge and jury, my mother, either.

You see I had been listening to the Black Hawks with a small transistor radio that I received for Christmas that came with that small white ear plug so my mother couldn't here. Well she may have not heard the game, but she did hear me.

As tough as Mr. Magnuson was on the ice, he was definitely one the the nicest guys off. Last year I took my cousin to a Hawks game and had dinner in the Locker Room club before the game. The waitress came to our table and dared one of us to pick a fight with the guy at the end of the bar. Without looking, I said " If it's Magnuson, go right ahead and be my guest. " Needless to say, she didn't.

But, we did buy him a beer and he came over to thank us and offered to return the gesture. Unlike most of these overpaid prima donnas in professional sports today, Keith Magnuson spent quite a few minutes with us talking about hockey both past and present as well as my story of how my mother would get upset at my father for letting me listen when I should be asleep.

As the saying goes, they don't make them like they used to.

Thank you Mr. Magnuson, for both the memories on and off the ice. And please say " Hi " to my mom for me. I think she'll understand.

Dear Cindy and family,

Our deepest regrets go to the Magnuson family with the loss of Keith. Keith was a wonderful, positive influence to anyone who crossed his path. I first met Keith in 1970 through his affiliation with Joyce Beverages/7-UP. My father took me to one of his 7-up clients where Keith was signing autographs. We instantly formed a bond that I still cherish til this day. Keith supported me throughout my youth hockey days both emotionally as well as financially. Playing Jr. hockey for the Chicago Saints we were required to find our own sponsorship to help pay for icetime. Without asking, Keith helped accomplish this goal. When the choice came to college, Keith helped me make the decision of pursuing aviation. I now pilot airplanes for Northwest Airlines. I have a successful life and career with a wonderful family. Thanks Keith for the wonderful support and memories. Dan Windett and family

Dear Cindy, Hank and I regret that we are unable to stop by this evening to greet you but want you to know that you, Molly, and Kevin are in our prayers and thoughts. Keith was a true gentleman and a wonderful caring man that the Wessel and Petter families feel very fortunate to have known. I well remember when my children as young ones hid in the bushes to see Keith as he picked you up at your parents' home while you were dating. A large group of the kids stood by on your wedding day at the Park Ridge Country Club. How fortunate I was to have later worked with Keith at Coca-Cola. My heart goes out to you as you mourn the loss you must feel. Bless you -I would love to have you for lunch when you are able. Keith later pushed my son, Kurt, to go for it in hockey as an adult in a middle of the night league and he still plays there - thanks to Keith's encouragement. Keith took all of my children and grandchildren to lunch one day - he was a very sharing man; I guess that is why God called him home so young; he is needed in bigger plans for the world. Bless you, Cindy, Molly and Kevin. Sue Wessel Petter & Hank

We were in our early teens when we learned that Keith was over at Stan Mikita's house, who lived right down the block from us. Of course, we were so excited (we had season tickets to the Hawks' games). My sister's friend was over with here brother, and he walked over to Stan Mikita's house (we didn't have the nerve to do it). To our surprise, our doorbell rang, and there stood Keith. We were in awe. My father was resting in our rec room (he had surgery for a blood clot in his leg) and Keith went down and spoke with him. It was such a thrilling experience for all of us. We thought we were so special that this cute, great hockey player would take time to come over to our house. From reading all the wonderful things he did for others and his wonderful demeanor, it does not surprise me in the least that he made this special visit to us. Even after 30 some odd years, it still something very exciting to remember.

Dear Cindy and Family,

I first fell in love with "Maggie" when I was about 14 or 15 years old. Would never miss watching him play whenever I could. My girlfriend and I actually brought him a birthday cake to O'Hare once when he was returning from a trip. I was intent on marrying him and she was going to marry Jerry Korab.

I had a huge scrapbook of him, which I am not sure where it is right now, but he certainly was one of my major crushes growing up.

I work at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood and did get to see him here several years ago, possibly during the Cancer Support Outing.

I am sorry for your loss, and Maggie, you and your entire family will continue to be in my prayers.

Sincerely,

We would like to extend our Deepest Sympathy to you all on the loss of your Husband and Dad. When we heard the news we were all stunned & couldn't believe it was true. In the early 70's my friend & I were invited to a picnic in LaBagh Woods for the Fan club of Keith and Cliff Koroll, we went & had a "Fantastic" time with them. Keith always took the time to meet & talk with his fans. He was always so cheerful & positive about everything, he had a great outlook on life. Keith will be sorely missed by all! I lost my Dad at an early age too and always feel that I have a "Guardian Angel" watching over me & I know that Keith has his "Angel Wings" too & will be watching over all three of you.......

I met Keith over 30 years ago when he played for the Blackhawks. He

posed for a picture with my son, and

gave him his autograph. That is something I will always remember.

Then I had the opportunity to work

with him at Coca-Cola. He was still

the same generous and sincere person

who I met years earlier. He will be

missed by all.

Dear Cindy and The Magnuson Family,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Keith. Keith was a wonderful friend to my father. The last time we saw Keith was at my fathers wake and he had such wonderful things to say to comfort us. Keith has touched my family's heart in so many ways. If there is anything you ever need I know I speak for the whole family in saying please do not hesitate to ask. All our prayers to you and your children.

Dear Magnuson Family,

We went to many Hawk games when Keith played, and of course Keith was our favorite player. I still have a picture of him with my brother and cousin which I was so jealous of. Then two years ago Keith was at our Parish carnival and I finally got to meet him. I will never forget how nice he was not only to me but to the kid's and adults alike. He talked with everyone. He was the very essence of the word 'gentleman'. I was also able to take a picture with him and I will treasure it always. My children and grandchildren will know about him and he will never be forgotten. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Dear Cindy,

When I first saw Kieth it was on the Hockey rink at the University of Denver. He and Cliff were the main attraction all over the city of Denver for four years. I later became reacquainted with him when he started at Joyce Beverages.

Although I never really got to know him closely the few times we met he was most gracious and kind. He probably knew me as the guy who would always remind him of his college hockey years (no less than ten times... he must of thought I was nuts).

Anyway, you and your children have been on my mind and I know you will always smile from your heart knowing Keith will always be with you.

My sincerest sympathy,

Keith Halverson

Cindy, I am greatful to have gotten to know you and Keith through Pasquesi Home and Garden in Lake Forest. My last memory was of a conversation we had in the store all smiles and laughs. I am greatful he took the time for me to talk some hockey. Keith was an idol of mine growing up and his symbolic race around the rink found its way into my hockey routine also. After I left the Northshore 3 years ago Keith met my father Don at his golf store in Glenview and they freuently discussed golf and the next club for Keith to try. Thanks for the memories that will never go away. I am greatful to have learned how much he did for the community and kids in need. I am greatful to have met both of you and wish to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Cindy,

I first met you and Keith at gate 3 1/2 at the Old Staduim in 1974. We were introduced by Bruce Trent who worked with my Father. Keith Was kind enough on occassion to call me on days I visited my dad at his office back in the 70s. Coincidentally, in 1979 we moved down the street from you in Riverwoods. The first day living there I rode my bike down Clendenin, and guess who was walking to the mailbox? Yea Keith. Again, as always, he was the friendliest guy any kid would want to meet. Its been 24 years since that day and I still tell my friends about what great guy Keith was. I now am married with 4 sons and just moved back to Riverwoods. I tell my sons about how nice it was growing up in the 70s and how athletes used to go out of their way for the kids, and it all started with the nicest athlete of them all- Mr Keith Magnuson- my first hero!

Dear Cindy and Family, I first met Keith when he lived in Park Ridge with Cliff Koroll. I was a crazy 12 year old who had a mad crush on him. When he moved to Glenview, my friends and I would ride our bikes from Park Ridge to Glenview just to talk to him. He was always nice to us. My cousin Maryann Colletta married Jerry Korab in the early 70's. The highlight of that night was being able to dance with Keith at their wedding. I remember your wedding in June, thank god by then I had a boyfriend or I would have been crushed. As I got older I still ran into him from time to time and he actually knew me by name. When he worked for 7-Up he had his secretary Alma send me tickets to a game and all kinds of 7-up trinkets because I had surgery. As the years past I ran into him at different functions. When my husband was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1990 he donated things to be auctioned at his benefit. He has always had a good heart and will be missed for that. I have a son with ceberal palsy and I was so happy to see him give his time to kids that had disabilities. I have an awesome scrape book with pictures of Keith dating back to the early 70's. I would love you and your family to have it. It shows your loved one from a fans view. God bless you and know that many grieve your loss. Please contact me if you would like this book.

Sincerely,

My deepest sympathy to the Magnuson family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I grew up during the 1960's and 1970's in a neighborhood where everyone played hockey and had a favorite Blackhawk player (including my math teacher who coached my floor-hockey team). I was honored to meet Keith Magnuson when he spoke at the dedication of the fitness track in Lincoln Park. I had recently joined the jazz band that performed at the dedication, and I was pleasantly surprised to meet Keith Magnuson and Tony Esposito. I was also impressed with how amazingly nice they were. I still have (and treasure) the souvenir t-shirt from that day. I wish you the comfort of knowing that he had a positive impact on the lives of others, and it was appreciated.

I took great pride in designing Keith's "Mag Shag" haircut when he was a Blackhawk in 1972. He was a very good man and a friend. God Bless him. Sincerely,

To the Magnuson and Blackhawk Family....My deepest sympathies to you all....from an old Keith Magnuson fan in Boston, the home of Bobby Orr.

I grew up here in the 60's/70's and i idolized 2 players...Bobby Orr(of course!) and Keith Magnuson. I graduated from high school in 1972, went on to play college hockey and modeled(I tried to anyway) my game after Keith. I loved his passion, his desire, his commitment. I fought a lot of battles defending my admiration for Keith. He was not the most popular player in Boston in the early 70's you know! :-)I loved how he readied himself for every face-off, shuffling his skates back and forth and lifting his stick to demonstrate his readiness for battle.

Only one thing could have made it more perfect for me.....I wish he won a cup with the big, bad Bruins of Orr, Esposito, Sanderson, Bucyk and Mackenzie.

I can only guess that Keith brought the same passion i saw on the ice to his family, his community and to the Blackhawk organization. I wanted you to know the respect for Keith was not just a "Chicago Thing"......it extended to places where his greatest rivals (the Bruins) and his most passionate fans (me)lived....placed like Boston Massachusetts.

I heard the sad news at 7am on the radio. I didn't want to believe it. If there was anyone who was full of life, it was, Keith. He couldn't even sit when he was in the penalty box. God bless Cindy, Kevin & Molly.

I had the pleasure to know Keith when I was a avid Hawk fan in the early '70's. There was no player more caring about his many fans than Keith. He would sign autograph after autograph at gate 3 1/2 talking and smiling all the time. There were many fans there before and after each game and when some of the players would sign a couple of autographs and take off, Keith would spend up to an hour almost every night in the freezing cold smiling and chatting with us all. I was an impressionable teenager and he taught me alot about humility, dignity and respect. In an age where most athletes became self-absorbed, Keith remained true to his awe and love of the game of hockey and love of his fans. After Keith retired I stopped following hockey..it just held no fun for me anymore. I would see Keith at various charity functions as I grew older and my admiration for this wonderful man has grown and grown. He, like Walter Payton were one of a kind and everyone he touched will forever remember his wounderful grin and caring, gentle manner. All members of the Magnuson family must have so many wonderful memories. What a full and great life he led. He will be missed so much by Cliff and all his close Hawk buddies as well. Keith Magnuson respresented everything good about the City of Chicago, which he loved so dearly. We will never forget you Maggie. We love you.

Those were the best years of hockey when Keith played along with Mikita, Korell, Esposito, Nesterenko and the famous Bobby Hull. In fact my granddaughter is named after Lynnea Korell. Loved the aggressiveness he had towards winning but the heart of a teddy bear. I remember him visiting me in my pizza "joint" and signing a picture of him for me (still have it). Remember his broken leg and visiting him in the hospital (got a picture of me sitting next to him in his bed). He was one special person who will live on in many hearts. My love to the whole family. May he rest in peace.

Dear Magnuson Family:

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Keith. Keith and I were "pen pals" for about 14 or 15 years. I have several wonderfull letters, photos, and Chicago Black Hawks items signed by Keith. I still have some items he sent me while working for Chicago Seven Up.

You have my sympathies and I will keep your family in my prayers. I know that Keith is resting now and is in good hands. Rest in peace number 3.

The first time I met Keith, I was about 16 and working for my aunt's market, Tom Naples Fruits & Vegetables in Melrose Park. Keith and several players, Pierre Pilotte, and Reggie Fleming and Bobby Hull used to shop all the time. He was so sweet. Later on, in my twenties, I had season tickets for the Hawks and we sat for years in the wives section in the F's at the old barn. You probably don't remember me and my mom Mary, but we always had drinks with you in between periods at the bar with Casey and family. Cindy you and Keith were always very sweet and considerate to us. Our hearts are heavy as we lost our beloved uncle this week as well. What a shock to hear of this tradgedy in the same week.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. I will remember my season ticket holder days with even more fondness having had Keith in my life during those years. He gave us great joy.

Sincerely,

Marilyn & Mary Sarlo

Dear Magnuson Family and Friends,

I became a hockey/Black Hawk fan around age 12, and Keith was always my favorite player. As a birthday present, every year my Dad would take me to a Black Hawk game. One year, I had the special treat of waiting after the game at gate 3 1/2 for the players to come out, so that I could get Keith's autograph and have my picture taken with him. Many years later, after I became a wife and mother, I went to a Black Hawk Alumni game. I had my picture taken with Keith again, but this time, it included my son, Kevin.

Memories of my teen years and many hockey games have been coming to mind this past week. My family and friends have been offering me their condolences, because they know how badly I feel.

Thank you for all the times you shared Keith with his fans. I hope that you will find comfort in the knowledge that Keith was loved and respected by so many. His heart and soul will live on in all whom he touched.

Sincerely,

Susan Parisi

Dear Magnuson Family:

I was truly saddened to hear the news of Keith's death.

Keith was a friend of my Dad's (Dr. Randall E. McNally)in 1976 when we lost my sister, Anne.

Keith used to stop by our house on numerous occasions and comfort all the kids (there were ten of us including my sister). The common theme I see in all the recent articles written about Keith was his extraordinary commitment to youth.

Keith would play floor hockey with us, and bring us 7Up and Blackhawks memorabilia.

Later in life, Keith was always so nice to my wife and me when we would see him at the old Stadium or the United Center.

I just found a picture of Keith posing with my sister Anne in my Dad's office from the early seventies. I will treasure this picture and miss Keith very much.

Please accept our deepest sympathies from the entire McNally Family.

As a 6yr old I was sitting in my Grandmothers hospital room in 1971 on a sunday. In walks Keith Magnuson. He sits down and talks with my grandmother and i for 1/2 an hour cheering us both up. What a great guy. I will never forget his act of kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

December 18, 2003

What a tragedy it is to lose a life so unexpected, especially to a nice and caring person. But what a glorious time it is to enter the Kindom of Heaven; celebrating the birth of Christ with his parents, all the Angels, and Christ himself. May the spirit of Keiths caring, contributions to the needy and to the game of hockey, and most of all his love, be passed on to each and every one of us that knew him and those who were touched by his generosity. GOD bless you Keith!

To Keith's family and close friends,

I'd like to express my deepest sadness and my sincere sympathy for your loss. I was devastated when I read the article in the Tribune and have been a Hawk fan since I was about 5 years old (I believe the Maki brothers were playing then, as well as Ed Van Impe, Mikita, the Hull brothers, Frank Esposito, etc.). I remember when Keith was a rookie and took no prisoners! LOL He was a favorite in my family.

Years later, when I was in my early 20's, he was coaching the Hawks and I would go to the games and watch him stand up for his team and encourage them in their efforts.

I feel as though he is part of my history and I am going to miss him deeply.

Please be comforted in knowing the joy he has brought to many, whether as a friend, a husband, a father, a coach, or a teammate.

Sincerely,

Sherry Massey
