Tracie Barton-Barrett
January 16, 2017
After thumbing through a Loyola magazine yesterday, I am deeply saddened to read about Kelly. She was one of the students in my AP Psychology class my first year of teaching at The John Carroll school. Although it was about 12 years ago, I remember Kelly as though it were yesterday. As mentioned by many others before, she was full of light and love. Her excellent questions in class and knowledge about the world were also above and beyond others her own age. She was truly a special soul. It always tears at my heart when I lose a student, but my grief pales in comparison to yours. Please know that I am thinking and praying for you and the entire family with this excruciating loss. Tracie Barton-Barrett, MS, LPC [email protected]

To my adored brother Mick, my dearly loved sister-in-law Jackie, my handsome and delightful nephew, Luke, and my exquisite, wonderful Lindsay... I've loved Kelly like a daughter, I will deeply miss the sound of her raspy unique voice, her stunning smile, her beautiful face. And each day as i feel the loss of her presence I will thank God for blessing our family with her and the strong holy family you all are. You four are an example of God in our midst. St. Paul said "the nature of God is Love". You are that witness. You reveal the nature of God.

I was a co-worker of "Mom-Mom" Pat Lepore for many years at BGE. It's amazing how tragic news such as her granddaughter's passing spreads throughout a community such as BGE. Please know Pat, that I think of you often and especially now since Kelly's untimely and unfortunate passing. She sounds like such a beacon of light to your family, and I know your heart is breaking. My prayers to you and your family now and in the coming weeks, months and years ahead.
May the Lord grant His mercy on you and your family.

To the Navin Family, I didn't know Kelly personally, but knew of her from her Aunt Mary, my dear friend. Mary proudly shares wonderful stories of her nieces and nephews. She has spoken about Kelly's accomplishments and loving spirit. I am so sad for your entire family for this tragic loss. I know you have a strong and loving family to help you on this painful journey. May you feel God's loving arms around you. Peg M.

We didn't know her personally. We only know her brother's girlfriend's parents, but this is truly very tragic to read of someone passing so young with so much ahead of her and one so loved. Prayers are sent to her family and loved ones and that meeting each other again someday will bring them comfort.

I remember back in March at Jennifer's birthday dinner, how kind and eloquent Kelly was when she was sharing her experiences of Loyola MD with my daughter Katherine. she was so excited about the field she chose and made great recommendations to a teenager trying to navigate her college choices. I loved her voice, deep and strong, just like her. Rest in peace sweet girl.
Sending the Navin and Lepore family love and strength.

I first met Kelly about 10 years ago when she worked in Savage and so did I. She was very professional at bartending and also personable and intelligent and ambitious. I was immediately very impressed by her awesome personality, sense of humor, kindness towards others, and how she lived in the present instead of always speaking of the past or the future. I am very sorry for the loss of her at such a young age. She is greatly missed already by a lot of people. You have my sincerest condolences.

I am so sorry for the emptiness your hearts must all be feeling right now. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Kelly, but what a beautiful statement to what sounds like a life well lived that your family has composed. My prayers are with you all at this time, I'm saddened the world has lost another bit of light...

Dear Mick and Jackie, I can't even imagine the pain you must feel with the passing of your beautiful and talented daughter Kelly. Remember she has only slipped away into the next room to be joined by both of you at a time known only by our Lord. You are both strong and exceptional, you are loved by many as Kelly was loved by the both of you. Kelly's love will lives on in your heart and your mind. That feeling will never die. May God look after you both along with Lindsey and Luke. Respectfully Virgil

Kelly,
I don't even know where to begin. During the first week of class, you struck up a conversation with me about video games and anime, and you showed me pictures from when you went to comic con. Not only did we find out that we double majored in the same studies, but we also had the same future plans. From then on, we were pretty much inseparable any time we were together! We planned our school schedules so we could have as many classes together as possible, and we always picked each other for group projects. We would get lunch together every week and talk about anything and everything before we walked to our classes together.
I made a lot of wonderful memories with you. Some of my favorites were when we would make statistics-related jokes to each other during class breaks that barely anyone else would understand, or the times that you spent the weekend at my house and we would spend 20 hours a day working on an exam for the hardest class we ever took. Two things come to mind every time I think of you: An infectious laugh (one that would make everyone else laugh, even when they didn't know what was so funny), and Cheetos--you came to class with a bag of them almost every week, and it's a wonder your fingers weren't permanently orange :).
It breaks my heart to know that you're gone, but I rest easy knowing that you lived your life so fiercely. If there's one thing that I admired most about you, it's that you were never afraid to live, and you were never afraid to love and care for anyone who became a part of your life. I am so incredibly grateful that I got to be one of the many who got to be a part of your life.
I love you, Kelly. I will always cherish the memories we made. Rest easy and keep watch until we meet again.
