Susan Welles Nelson

Susan Welles Nelson BURLINGTON,VT - Susan Welles Nelson, 78, formerly of Ormond Beach, Florida, and recently of Burlington, Vermont passed away peacefully in her home on June 19, 2011. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, daughter of Grosvenor Bemis and Susan Welles Clymer. She attended Wellesley College, and later in life, Daytona Beach Community College, where she studied computer science. She worked at the Daytona Beach Public Library for many years. She had a special interest in computers, graphic arts and photography. She loved and provided an excellent home for shelter dogs, including her loyal companion, Jack. She was never known to be beaten in a game of Scrabble, and will be missed by her online word game companions. Susan had an independent and loving spirit. She is predeceased by her brother Benjamin Bemis of Palm Harbor, Florida. She is survived by her daughter Susan Welles Browning and son-in-law Russell Browning of Carefree, Arizona, her son Sture Grosvenor Nelson and daughter-in-law Susan Parkman Henry of Burlington, Vermont and her daughter Anne Norwood and her husband Tom Norwood of Montgomery, Alabama, as well as nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the private caregivers and the hospice team at the Visiting Nurse Association for their loving care. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
