Kelly York Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 13, 2008.
BANGOR - Kelly J. York, 44, died in hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ, surrounded by family and friends Nov. 11, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. Although Kelly had been struggling to breathe for some time, she grew calm while her daughter, Jessica, and several sisters in the Lord sang songs of worship. Her breathing became less labored and she was ready to go home to Jesus. Moments before she died, they sang, "We will meet in the Golden City in the New Jerusalem. All our pain and all our tears will be no more. We will stand with the host of heaven and cry, 'Holy is the Lamb!' We will worship and adore You evermore..." Kelly was born June 25, 1964, in Skowhegan. Kelly graduated from Skowhegan High in 1982. She later attended Husson College, Bangor, and received a business degree. She worked for 13 years at Bangor Hydro as a customer service representative. She was always a hard worker, a great cribbage player and a strong woman. In her last year, she drew close to the Lord, focusing her hope on the eternal life in Christ. She was content with what she had and devoured God's Word, reading straight through the entire Bible in three months. She said, "I can't believe how much time I put into doing my hair...there's so much more to live for." She was predeceased by her mother, Madeline "Joyce" (Pottle) York. Survivors include her daughter, Jessica L. York-Osewalt; her father, Forrest E. York; her two brothers, Steven F. York and Bruce E. York; her kitty Buddy-boy; and many more family and friends. A service of remembrance will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Calvary Chapel, 154 River Road, Orrington. A time of fellowship will be after. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalms 116:15

A few years ago, I became friends with Kelly. She was fun to be around and laughed a lot. She had a unique way of taking a complaint, and presenting it so that we ended up chuckling and laughing. I am sorry for your loss, she will be missed.

Kelly was one of my dearest friends in high school. When I heard that she passed it was a big shock. She was a sweet and kind person. I haven't heard from her in a few years. I never knew she was sick. My heart is very sad with this loss.

I will miss Kelly every single day. My life is so much better because I knew her. She's my friend. Bruce and Steven, I know how she always had you on her mind in such a caring way and thought so much of her dad. Steven, she never wanted to miss one call from you and was so happy you two could be in touch every day like that. I know you were as close as a brother and sister could ever be. She was a very hard worker from a young age and did very, very well bringing up her daughter, Jesse, who was first and foremost on her mind all the time. She was an exceptional person, wonderful mother, true and loyal friend, and touched the heart of everyone she knew.

I was saddened to learn of Kelly's death. I worked with her for several years at BHE and she was a wonderful co-worker. Always helpful and easy to work with. Jess, I know she loved you very much and wanted the world for you.
