Ken KERR Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post on Jun. 27, 2018.
KERR, Ken Kenneth Cunningham Kerr, late of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on June 20, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Ken is lovingly remembered by Donna Cameron and his children Kim (Dave) Booker of Kelowna, Kerry (Leslie Munro) of Kelowna, Tean (Emma Parnell) of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren Treana (John) Hamilton of Kelowna, Jamie (Jason Fields) Brooks of Kelowna, Diana Holmes of Oklahoma City, Jesse Kerr of Kelowna, Marlen Kerr of Sydney, Australia; 8 great-grandchildren; Donna's son Dave Wagstaff and family of Kelowna; sister Helen Stephens of Montreal; brothers Gord (Donna) of Calgary, Dave (Donna) of Weyburn; and several nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his son Todd, brother Doug, and nephews Robert and Martin. Ken was born on July 27, 1938 in Moose Jaw to Dave and Peggy Kerr. The family moved to Regina when Ken was 5. Ken attended Albert and Scott Collegiate. He worked for SaskTel for 35 years. While working there, he met Donna and they spent many happy years together. Ken was an avid sports fan playing basketball, baseball, curling, and golf. He liked attending the horse races and sipping a cool one at the Eagles Club. Ken had a great sense of humour and had the ability to make people laugh. Ken was very proud of his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the Kerr reunion last September. Ken was diagnosed with dementia and spent the past 2 years at Pioneer Village. The family would like to thank the staff for the kind and compassionate care Ken received. At Ken's request, no service will be held. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's online obituary at: www.myalternatives.ca

I had to think about this for a while because Ken was 6 years older than me and out of my league. But I fondly remember our wrestling matches on Gord's bed ( beat him once with a scissor lock to the neck), sticking his finger into a stack of bread slices at the table to see if they were soft, teaching me how to make onion sandwiches, and the constant smile. Ken, Doug & I shared a bedroom upstairs at 1454 Cameron Street and the guy with seniority got the army cot so Doug & I got the bunk bed...yuck. As my brothers grew up and became fathers and uncles I finally got the bedroom across the hall facing MECCA. it even had an extension phone thanks to ...guess who?
Thanks to Katherine we had that great reunion when Ken seemed to recognize everyone, and even told us a few jokes. We laughed and cried at the same time.
Goodbye old buddy, goodbye old friend, goodbye brother, until we meet again.
