This man gave me life 24yrs ago through his genius. Unfortunately, I only found out of his passing last month. He was a great man who offered you humanity, dignity and expertise. I was indeed lucky to have crossed paths on this journey of life. Life has been hard, thank you for offering me light. Farewell Dr. Kenneth Gordon Atkinson, you were appreciated by many and forever will be missed. Rest in peace.
Regards,

To the Atkinson Family! I am saddened to hear of Ken's passing. It's decades since our paths crossed but i have always cherished the warmth shown by Ken and Lora during our time leading the high school group at First Baptist Church. Sid Dacres

We were so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. He and Lora were long time friends of our family and I grew up with the "kids" at First Baptist. Ken was especially kind & encouraging when Jorge was a student in UBC Nursing, inviting him to observe in surgery. We send you our heartfelt sympathy.

Dr Ken Atkinson was my friend, partner in surgery, skiing buddy and esteemed colleague...a more kind, considerate, patient, supportive, diligent, thorough and skilled surgeon one will not find...he will be missed by so many...a man of faith, was loved and cherished by his friends and family...Nis Schmidt

I am saddened to hear the passing of Dr. Atkinson. I trained in general surgery at UBC in the 1990s, and he was one of the reasons that our St.Pauls Hospital gen surgery rotation was the jewel in the crown of our Vancouver rotations.
As another guest entry mentioned, he was a kind and calming influence, an excellent surgeon, and he was universally well respected.
He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word.
I will miss him.
I am happy to have known and trained under him, and no doubt that I am better for it.

I was a patient of Dr. Atkinson at St. Paul's in 1973-74. I have thought of him many times in the past 4 decades because he rescued me from a debilitating, unpleasant ailment that could have diminished my life terribly if he had not intervened. I remember the care he took, the hours he spent with me. As well as being a meticulously skilled surgeon, he was unusually kind and gracious in the process. My thoughts now are with you, his family, who already know of his kindness and professional ability, but it may comfort you to know that there are many patients of Dr. Atkinson, like myself, whose lives were greatly improved by his presence.

Dear Mrs. Atkinson and Family. Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of a Family Member. You may not remember me, however in 1972-74 I did a few jobs for you in painting and painted the two girls bedroom ceilings to get rid of there allergies, and it did the job. May God bless you all.
