Kenneth Baldwin

Kenneth Thomas Baldwin of Glenview IL, passed away on Friday, March 13 after a long illness. He was born in Chicago, IL on January 26, 1932. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Betsy) Baldwin, devoted father of Keith (Kathy) Baldwin, Lynn Baldwin, Lisa (Darren) Bennett, and Laura Baldwin. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Bethany Baldwin, Christin Baldwin, Kailey (Colton) Farmer, Charlie Baldwin and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Madilyn Farmer. He was a dear "Grandpa" to April Larson. He was preceded in death by daughter Krista Baldwin, brother George (Rosemarie) Henriksen, and parents Fred and Irene Baldwin. Ken served in the US Army stationed in Korea. He then worked as a pressman for many years but was an entrepreneur at heart. He began a custom tailoring business, Superior Tailoring, in Chicago which he operated until he found his true calling: Chicago real estate. He opened his real estate brokerage firm, Baldwin and Associates, in 1987. The company operated with over thirty salespeople until Ken retired in 2000 to pursue his own interests. In "retirement", Ken managed his apartment buildings, was a voracious reader, an avid movie buff, and most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Ken was a true Aquarius: he loved water. He loved to travel, especially to anywhere with a beach, sun, snorkeling and boating, and in his younger days, water skiing. He enjoyed many cruises, whether on big ships, or on his own boat on the Chain of Lakes. Ken touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and always maintained his trademark sense of humor. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19 from 4-8 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral home, 1240 Waukegan Rd. (just south of Lake Ave.) in Glenview. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 20 at 10:30 am at Glenview Community Church. 1000 Elm St., Glenview.
