Kenneth Birr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2025.
Kenneth William "Ken" Birr, age 66, passed away on May 4, 2025, in Oak Harbor, Ohio. Born on June 4, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio, Ken lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought him happiness.

Ken proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1976 until 1992, including during the Gulf War. His years of military service reflected his steadfast commitment to duty and country. After retiring from the Air Force, Ken continued his life of service through his work with Sylvania Schools. Beginning in custodial services in 1998 and later transitioning into maintenance before retiring in 2021, he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.

A man of faith and Christian values, Ken found joy in both quiet moments and spirited passions. He was an avid NASCAR fan who especially admired Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr., often cheering them on with enthusiasm. Football also held a special place in his heart-he was a devoted supporter of the Denver Broncos and Ohio State Buckeyes. Ken also enjoyed going fishing in his later years and shared that passion with a few of his great nephews which meant a lot to him.

Ken's sparkly eyes and warm smile were trademarks of his presence-bringing light to those around him. He cherished time spent with family across generations. He was the beloved son of Barbara Birr and the late Earl Birr; a loving father to Jennifer Miller, Matthew Birr, and Joseph Birr (Britainia); and a proud grandfather to Chelsea, Megan, Andrew, Amaya, Alaina, Peyton, Tatiana, Maddox, Nadia, Isabella, Mariah, JJ, Isaiah, and Autumn. His joy expanded further as a great-grandfather to Lianna, Naila, Tinsley, and Ezra.

He shared close bonds with his siblings: Don Birr (Joyce), Mark Birr (Sandy), Jeff Birr (Carmella), and Marjorie Branch (Tom). Ken was also a cherished uncle, great-uncle, and great-great-uncle whose presence enriched many lives within his extended family.

May Kenneth William "Ken" Birr be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family and country-and may his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Graveside Service will be held on June 4, 2025, from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park 4210 Central Ave . Gravesite memorial with Military honors and burial of urn
